Doctors can not name the exact causes of eczema of the hands, but they identify a number of factors that provoke the inflammation of the surface layer of the skin. These factors include:

  1. Prolonged skin contact with detergents or irritants, for example, gasoline, thinner, acetone, varnishes, paint, and other;
  2. Allergic reaction to synthetic clothing, dust, animal hair, pollen of plants;
  3. Bacterial or fungal infection of the skin.

Chronic eczema of the hands is most common in people who suffer:

  • Reduced immunity;
  • Hormonal disorders;
  • Chronic diseases( tonsillitis, dental caries, kidney disorders);
  • Constant stress;
  • Forced to take any medications;
  • Have hereditary predisposition.

The inflammatory process of the skin triggers special substances - prostaglandins, produced by the human immune system. It is under the influence of prostaglandins that the mediators( provocators) of the inflammation, histamine and serotonin, are released into the blood, which leads to the appearance of various rashes and swelling on the skin.

The initial stage of eczema on the hands is characterized by the appearance of increased dryness of the skin, peeling and a feeling of tightness. As the histamine and serotonin accumulate in the blood, the clinical picture progresses, the above symptoms are added:

  • Reddening of skin areas in the localization of the pathological process;
  • Puffiness;
  • An unbearable itch that intensifies at night;
  • The formation of small bubbles filled with liquid - when combing these bubbles, on the affected parts of the skin, wet erosions are formed.

Eczema of hands significantly limits the patient in his actions, since even ordinary hygiene procedures cause pain, itching and severe discomfort.

There are three stages of inflammation of the upper layer of the skin:

  1. Acute - the onset of swollen foci with pronounced reddening and the formation of seals and vials filled with liquid. As the progression continues, the bubbles burst, a clear liquid is released from them, and yellow dense crusts form in their place;
  2. Subacute - the appearance of thickened hyperemic foci of the skin with a change in the skin pattern;
  3. Chronic - the formation of dense hyperemic thickened foci, on which over time pigmentation is disturbed.

Treatment of eczema in the hands

If there are signs of inflammation of the skin, the patient should consult a dermatologist. Treatment of eczema on the hands begins, first of all, with the exclusion of the cause and factors that could provoke the development of the disease. After determining the stage and identifying possible causes of the disease, the doctor will determine how to treat eczema.

To significantly improve the skin condition with eczema of any kind, the following general recommendations will help:

  • Exclude from the diet products that are potential allergens and can aggravate the course of the disease( chicken eggs, citrus, honey, red caviar, chocolate, cocoa, nuts, strawberries);
  • Avoid skin contact with detergents, in particular with detergent, dishwashing gel, rinsing agents for tissues( it is recommended to wash with household soap, thoroughly ironing then on both sides);
  • Avoid prolonged exposure to exposed sunlight;
  • Wear linen only from natural fabrics;
  • Do not contact animals, pollen of plants, do wet cleaning daily( carpets and other dustbins are recommended to be removed);
  • Take vitamin complexes, lead a healthy lifestyle;
  • Eliminate stress, ensure a healthy full sleep at least 8 hours a day.

To treat eczema in the hands at the initial stage should be only in conjunction with the doctor, as self-medication can lead to aggravation of the course of the disease and the transition of inflammation to a chronic form.

In an acute period, with the appearance of severe clinical symptoms, conservative treatment is performed:

  • Lotions from furacillin and other local antiseptics - when the affected areas are wetted, to prevent secondary bacterial infection and dry the combs;
  • Hormonal ointment - it is possible to treat eczema on the hands in an acute period with the help of topical preparations containing Prednisolone or Dexamethasone, however, they can only be used according to the doctor's prescription;
  • Antihistamines( tablets, drops, injections) - block the release of histamines and eliminate the itching of the skin;
  • Quartz on the wetting areas for severe disease.

When a bacterial infection is attached to the patient, a course of antibiotics must be prescribed. After achieving a stable remission, sanatorium-and-spa treatment is recommended.

Eczema on the hands during pregnancy - features of

By itself, pregnancy is a serious test for the female body. The properties of the immune system are aimed at the safe bearing and development of the child. If before pregnancy a woman suffered from any allergic skin diseases, dermatitis with high probability will again be felt.

In addition, after attaching the fetal egg inside the uterus in the body of the future mother, there are serious hormonal changes, prostaglandins are being produced, necessary to relax the smooth muscles. These factors can become provocateurs in the development of the inflammatory process of the skin.

Future moms note - during pregnancy the skin becomes drier, sensitivity increases. Using the usual gels for the shower, soap and creams can cause eczema.

To prevent such trouble, cosmetics and hygiene products should be replaced with hypoallergenic ones, and, starting from the 4th month of pregnancy, the skin should be nourished with baby oil or special milk for future mothers, so that unpleasant symptoms such as stiffness, dryness and flaking can be eliminated.

Every pregnant woman, faced with eczema, worries: will not the disease affect the development of her baby? Experts say that dermatitis itself does not pose any threat to fetal development, but itchy skin, irritability of the woman and insomnia on the background of unpleasant sensations can lead to negative consequences.

Dermatitis is not contagious to other people, but a patient suffering from this disease should use individual hygiene items so as not to be at risk.

Clogging areas are the entrance gate for bacteria, and with dermatitis of any kind the immune system weakens, which makes the patient's body vulnerable. Do I need a diet with eczema on my hands?

Compliance with the diet with eczema allows to improve the course of the disease and significantly reduce its clinical manifestations. Therapeutic diet is especially important if dermatitis is caused by food allergy or the cause of the disease is not established.

Spicy spices, condiments, canned goods, sausages, red products( tomatoes, strawberries, bell peppers, etc.), honey, nuts, fish are excluded from the diet.

Preference is given to sour-milk products, cereals, fresh vegetables and fruits of green color.
