Instructions for the use of tablets Furagin recommends the use of this drug in the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the urinary system. Synthetic antimicrobial agent from the group of nitrofuran derivatives has a pronounced bactericidal action, but at the same time, unlike other antibiotics, it does not cause serious systemic reactions.

Furagin - drug description and principle of action

The main component of Furagin is the substance furazidin. Its chemical formula includes a particular molecule that binds to microbial cell enzymes that carry hydrogen. As a result, the course of metabolic processes is disturbed, the most important biochemical cycles are inhibited, further activity and reproduction of microorganisms are blocked.

Under the influence of furazidina, nucleic acid formation ceases, the cell membranes and outer membranes of bacteria are destroyed, which leads to their death. To achieve the desired therapeutic effect, a very small concentration of the active substance is sufficient.

Furagin is active against most strains of pathogens (streptococci, staphylococcus, Klebsiella, Salmonella, Shigella, Escherichia coli). But its use is ineffective in infectious processes caused by the pyocyanic stick, proteins, enterococci and some other strains of microorganisms.

The use of the drug increases the level of non-specific protective proteins in the blood, stimulates the activity of leukocytes and contributes to the revitalization of the immune system. Such a multifaceted effect makes Furagin one of the most effective antimicrobial agents, which also does not have a negative systemic effect on the body.

Furazidin has an antiseptic effect directly in the urinary system, penetrating the kidneys, bladder and urethra. After ingestion, the drug is rapidly absorbed from the intestines and suppresses the spread of pathogens through the lymphatic system, preventing further development of the infection.

This feature allows you to use Furagin as an antimicrobial and antiseptic even in the treatment of purulent wounds and certain gynecological diseases. A few hours after taking the drug accumulates in the urine, and then completely eliminated from the body.

Release form

Another form of release - Furagin Lect, is practically no different from the original drug, contains the same amount of active substance - 50 mg, has the same indications for use. The only difference between these drugs in the manufacturer and the age limit to receive. So, Furagin can be prescribed to children from 3 years old, and Furagin Lecture only from 4 years of age.

This list of possibilities for the use of the drug does not end there. To the question of what the Furagin tablets help, one can answer that they are used not only for oral administration, but also as a local and external antiseptic.

Instructions for use for cystitis

In cystitis, Furagin is prescribed most often, as this agent provides the necessary antimicrobial the action is in the affected area, that is, it destroys pathogenic microorganisms in the urinary organs system. Due to the specific composition based on the action of nitrofurans, the drug works much more effective than other broad-spectrum antibiotics used in urinary infections system.

Another advantage of Furagin is that the causative agents of cystitis do not develop resistance to the current substance, so the drug does not lose its effectiveness with repeated courses of treatment and reliably prevents relapses diseases.

Reviews on the use of Furagin with cystitis confirm its effectiveness. The drug is well tolerated, quickly eliminates unpleasant symptoms, stops the inflammatory process and at the same time helps to strengthen the immune system and increase the body's resistance to infections.

For external use pre-prepared aqueous solution. To do this, the tablets in a volume of 0.5-1g are crushed and dissolved in 100 ml of heated water for injection. The resulting solution is passed through antibacterial filters, poured into a glass container and sterilized.

Antiseptic solution is used for washing purulent wounds and cavities, treating burns or wetting dressings. The same tool can be used for rinsing the throat and mouth. In ophthalmology, Furagin's solution is used in a special dilution (1: 13000), dripping a few drops into the conjunctival sac every 4 hours.

Furagin is less toxic than other antibiotics, however, in some conditions, it is forbidden to prescribe this drug. Contraindications to the use of the drug:

Parents should strictly follow all prescriptions and avoid overdosing; otherwise possible development of such terrible complications as toxic hepatitis or peripheral lesions nerves. During treatment with Furagin, the child needs to be given more fluid and provide additional intake of B vitamins.

Adverse reactions

Often there are reactions from the central nervous system, which are manifested by dizziness, drowsiness, migraine, visual impairment, peripheral nerve damage, neuritis, polyneuritis, arthralgia.

Allergic reactions are accompanied by the appearance of papular rash, itching, symptoms of dermatitis. In severe cases, angioedema develops, acute pulmonary reactions occur (with severe shortness of breath, cough, chest pain).

When the first unfavorable symptoms appear, the dosage of the drug should be reduced. If this measure does not help, you should stop taking Furagin and consult a doctor to adjust the course of treatment. Simultaneous use of antihistamines and adherence to the rules of application will help to reduce the risk of adverse reactions (taking the tablets only after a meal with a large volume of liquid).

Furagin during pregnancy

Immunity of a pregnant woman is subject to increased stress, so during this period the urinogenital system is most vulnerable and susceptible to infectious lesions. The danger of such conditions is that even with a completely harmless urethritis, the infection can easily spread higher, spread to the bladder and kidneys, which threatens to develop serious complications that threaten the normal course of pregnancy.

Good to know

There are antimicrobial agents that can be taken to treat cystitis or urethritis during this crucial period. But Furagin is not included in the number of such drugs. It can not be prescribed in any trimester of pregnancy. If there is a need for treatment during breastfeeding, the child must be temporarily transferred to artificial mixtures.

Structural analogues of Furagin include drugs Furazidin, Furamag or Furazol. In addition, in cases of intolerance to nitrofurans, the doctor may replace Furagin with other antimicrobial agents with similar therapeutic effects, such as Furadonin, Monural or Fosfomycin.

Drugs should not be replaced at their discretion, the attending physician should select analogues. Despite the similarity in therapeutic action, each drug has its own characteristics of use, contraindications and side effects. Self-medication can lead to unpredictable consequences and dangerous complications, so it’s not worth the risk.

Cost of medication

The price of Furagin is quite affordable, in the pharmacy chain the average cost of the drug depends on the manufacturer and the number of tablets in the package. So, Furagin 50 mg (10pcs) costs from 110 rubles, and the packaging of tablets of 30 pieces will cost from 200 to 230 rubles.

Application Reviews

Review number 1

Furagin is a reliable and proven drug. I take these pills for exacerbations of cystitis. Relief is felt already after the first pill.

Furagin acts gently, but quickly removes painful urination and other symptoms of cystitis. The course should be short, no more than 7 days. If you follow all the recommendations, side effects are not felt.

Review number 2

The doctor prescribed pills Furagin for urethritis. It is good that I bought a small package of 10 pieces, because after the first dose my temperature immediately jumped up, my head started spinning and nausea. She stopped taking, asked to replace the drug. But the doctor said that apparently, I took the medicine wrong.

You need to drink pills after eating and drink a glass of water. I had to continue the treatment, buy a new package of pills, since the drug was inexpensive. I could hardly complete the course of therapy, but the result was good, all the symptoms of the infection disappeared.
