Instructions for use Ersefuril clearly positions the drug as an intestinal and gastric antiseptic, devoid of antibiotic components. That is, this medicine is inherently an antimicrobial and antidiarrheal agent, the action of which is aimed at combating pathogenic microorganisms in the intestines and stomach.

Ersefuril - description of the drug

The international name of the intestinal antiseptic is Nifuroxazide, since the main active ingredient of Ersefuril is nifuroxazide, fortified with magnesium stearate. Also in the composition of the drug there are binding components in the form of starches and sucrose. The drug shell has a complex multicomponent composition designed to ensure the dissolution of the drug directly in the intestine or in the lower stomach.

Although the drug is not antibiotic

insta story viewer
and is sold in pharmacies completely free, you need to use Ersefuril tablets only after consulting a doctor. Before starting treatment, it is recommended to pass tests to determine the type of bacteria that have become pathogens infections, since the drug is effective against not all types of existing infectious agents.

The action of an intestinal antiseptic is that after ingestion, the active substance reacts with enzymes that provide redox processes in the microbial cell. In therapeutic doses, Ersefuril exhibits a bacteriostatic effect (that is, it blocks further growth and reproduction bacteria), and taking the drug in high doses provides a bactericidal effect aimed at destroying pathogenic microorganisms.

In this case, the drug "along the way" activates and enhances the action of phagocytes, that is, the body's own immune cells responsible for the normal and healthy state of microflora. The drug is active against gram-positive microflora, provoking diarrhea and other types of intestinal disorders, as well as a number of pathogenic gram-negative microorganisms, including salmonella. At the same time, bacteria do not develop resistance to the active substance. At the same time, nifuroxazide is ineffective against Proteus, Klebsiella, Pseudomonas and Providenci.

After oral administration, the drug is practically not absorbed from the gastrointestinal tract, up to 99% of the dose taken remains in the intestine, showing the necessary antimicrobial effect.

As numerous reviews say, treatment with this medication does not cause dysbiosis and does not require additional prescription of probiotic agents.

Forms of issue

Intestinal antiseptic is available in the following versions:

  1. Ersefuril capsules are hard, gelatinous, inside which there is a yellow powder. Each capsule contains 200 mg of nifuroxazide and a number of auxiliary components.
  2. Capsules of 14 pieces are packaged in blisters, which, in turn, are packed in a cardboard box. The pack can contain 1 or 2 blisters with capsules along with the enclosed instructions for the preparation.
  3. Ersefuril suspension (4%) is a homogeneous liquid with a pleasant banana smell. One scoop (5 ml) contains 200 mg of active ingredient. Produced in glass bottles with a volume of 90 ml.

Many are interested in what is the difference between Ersefuril and Enterofuril, except for the release form, because both drugs have not only a similar name, but also a similar effect?

In fact, these drugs are not much different, both belong to the group of intestinal antiseptics with an antidiarrheal effect and contain the same active ingredient - nifuroxazide. The only difference is in a slightly different content of auxiliary components and a variety of release forms. Enterofuril gelatin capsules are produced in two versions, with an active substance content of 100 mg and 200 mg, suspension with a pleasant banana flavor is produced especially for children and can be used from 1 month of age child.

Indications

The main indication for the use of Ersefuril is acute diarrhea of a bacterial nature, proceeding without signs of intoxication of the body (fever or general deterioration). This drug is prescribed in cases where there is no suspicion of helminthic invasion. In case of infectious diarrhea, with symptoms of intoxication, it is necessary to use systemic antibiotic therapy.

Simultaneously with the appointment of Ersefuril, it is necessary to take rehydration solutions that replenish the water-salt balance, disturbed due to frequent loose stools.

How to take Ersefuril

According to the instructions for use, the maximum daily volume of the drug for an adult is 800 mg (4 capsules), divided into 2-4 doses. Ersefuril capsules are prescribed from 6 years old, in this case, the permissible volume of the drug is less - from 3 to 4 capsules per day. The duration of treatment is on average 7 days.

In severe infections, the dosage is increased to 4-5 capsules per day, reduced to three with the observed improvements, and the duration of the course is from one and a half to a couple of weeks.

Ersefuril for children is prescribed in the form of a suspension. The dosage of the drug is selected by the doctor, taking into account the age of the small patient. Babies from 4 weeks to 2.5 years old can be given 1 scoop of the suspension 2-3 times a day. Older children (up to 6 years old) from 1 to 3 spoons, in 2-3 doses.

The main contraindication limiting the use of the drug is intolerance or rejection by the body of nitrofuran and its derivatives.

Ersefuril for children in capsules can be prescribed only after the age of six; the medication should be used with caution in the elderly. Other contraindications include the following conditions:

  • glucose or galactose malabsorption syndrome;
  • intolerance to fructose;
  • deficiency in the body of sucrose and isomaltases:

Persons suffering from diabetes mellitus, diseases of the adrenal glands and kidneys can be prescribed the drug only according to indications and under the supervision of a doctor.

No teratogenic effect of the drug has been identified, however, due to insufficient experience in clinical use, it is not recommended to use Ersefuril during pregnancy. During breastfeeding, intestinal antiseptic can be used in short courses.

Adverse Reactions

Taking the medication can increase the symptoms of dehydration accompanying intestinal infections, so it is important to drink enough fluids during treatment.

Ersefuril is well tolerated by patients and rarely causes side effects. Such manifestations as hives-type rashes can be observed in persons with a tendency to allergic reactions. In very rare cases (with intolerance to the active substance), dangerous conditions may develop - anaphylactic shock or Quincke's edema.

Additional recommendations

With prolonged diarrhea, accompanied by excruciating bouts of vomiting and refusal to eat, treatment should be supplemented with intravenous administration of electrolytes in order to rehydrate the body.

Good to know

If bacterial diarrhea is accompanied by a worsening of the condition, an increase in temperature, it is necessary to include antibacterial agents in the treatment regimen in combination with systemic diffusion.

If, while taking the drug, diarrhea persists for more than 2 days, a decision is made about oral or intravenous administration of fluids and electrolytes, taking into account the clinical picture of the disease, age and condition the patient.

Average prices

The cost of the drug in the pharmacy network depends on the form of release, the number of capsules in the package and varies from 320 to 750 rubles. Ersefuril cannot be attributed to budget medicines, its price is quite high. If necessary, you can ask your doctor to find cheaper analogs.

Analogs

The closest analogues of Ersefurid, with a similar therapeutic effect, include the following drugs:

  • Enterofuril - the medicine is milder and works well for treating intestinal disorders in children. Cost - from 220 rubles.
  • Nifuroxazide - a medication with a completely identical composition, but with a higher concentration of active nitrofuran. It is highly effective, but has serious contraindications and side effects. Price - from 300 rubles.
  • Furazolidone - a cheaper intestinal antiseptic, showing good efficiency against most known pathogenic microorganisms, but having a hepatotoxic effect and a negative effect on the kidneys. The cost of the drug is from 120 rubles.

Among other analogs with a similar therapeutic effect, the following drugs can be called:

  • Loperamide;
  • Lopedium;
  • Diara;
  • Stoperan;
  • Entoban;
  • Silix;
  • Carbolong;
  • Uzara;
  • Norma Guth;
  • Dialin Syrup;
  • Stopdiar;
  • Adsorb Ultra;
  • Diarrhea and others.

All drugs are designed to combat diarrhea, but have different compositions, differ in the principle of action, different the degree of effectiveness against strains of pathogenic microflora, characterized by various contraindications and side effects effects. Therefore, if the drug Ersefuril was prescribed by a doctor, you cannot arbitrarily replace it with an analogue, all appointments must be made by a specialist.

As a rule, the desire to use another medicine arises from its lower cost. However, drugs that have helped against intestinal infections have been around for generations and are usually cheap. drugs are already outdated, with a large number of side effects and a high risk of complications after the course therapy.

Feedback on application

Reviews of doctors and patients about this drug are mostly positive. Patients note the high efficiency, safety of the intestinal antiseptic and the speed of its action. At the same time, many say that the price of the drug is unreasonably high, which makes them look for other options that are more affordable.

Review number 1

Ersefuril capsules have already helped out with intestinal disorders more than once. Our family loves to travel, and this drug is especially indispensable in cases where the stomach reacts negatively to unfamiliar food or other nutritional errors. After taking the pill, relief quickly comes and the stool will soon return to normal.

Review number 2

Ersefuril capsules were prescribed by the pediatrician for my son with intestinal disorder. There was frequent loose stools, but at the same time, no vomiting, no temperature was observed. The drug is quite expensive, but it helps quickly.

On the second day of treatment, the condition returned to normal. The drug was taken for 5 days. Along with the medicine, the doctor recommended an increased drinking regimen to replenish the loss of fluid. The drug has few contraindications, it does not have a negative effect on the body, so the high price is fully justified.
