How to relieve sore throat symptoms

What is angina

Angina is an acute infectious disease of the pharynx, which is accompanied by inflammation of the elements of the so-called pharyngeal lymphatic ring. Most often, tonsillitis occurs - inflammation of the tonsils.

How does angina occur?

As a rule, infection occurs by airborne droplets from a person who is sick with an acute viral or bacterial disease of the upper respiratory tract. By itself, the function of the lymphatic tissue is to protect the entire body from possible threats. Therefore, the tonsils are the first to come into contact with microbes and viral particles that have entered the oral cavity. Local immunity cells analyze how dangerous they are. Then the "messengers" are sent to other departments of the immune system, and there begins the preparation of special cells capable of destroying uninvited guests. It takes about 7 days for the body to complete this activity, during this time there is no specific protection, therefore it is important to maintain immunity already in the early stages of the disease.

What happens to the body during a sore throat

Infectious agents caught in us affect the mucous membrane of the upper respiratory tract, the oral cavity and cause inflammation. In this case, viruses or bacteria actively multiply, their growth before the maturation of specific antibodies is restrained by the forces of local specific immunity. These are cells that react to everything foreign, while their effectiveness against this or that pathogen is different. If they manage to cope with the pathogen, then the sore throat disappears and the person recovers. If not, the disease develops, the temperature rises, the person loses the ability to lead the usual way of life. By the seventh day of illness, the immune system releases specific antibodies into the blood. They quickly and definitively deal with the threat. Therefore, well-being is fully restored fairly quickly. And protection against exactly the same pathogen is maintained throughout the life of these antibodies in the blood. For some diseases, lifelong immunity is formed. These are measles, rubella, chicken pox and other "childhood diseases" we know.

What can you help yourself

Of course, in the case of a high rise in temperature or severe painful sensations, one cannot do without consulting a doctor. Angina has complications, and the sooner they are identified, the better for the patient himself. The appointment of immunomodulatory drugs or antibiotics is the task of a specialist. On your own, you can bring down the temperature, organize regular gargling with antiseptic solutions, or use immunity-enhancing agents. The indisputable advantage of some drugs is their combined effect.

For example, the drug Anti-Angin® Formula spray, which includes chlorhexidine, which has a bactericidal and bacteriostatic effect, and tetracaine, which has a local anesthetic effect. The convenient form of the spray allows you to ensure the effect of the active components of the drug exactly where it is needed. Due to its complex composition, Anti-Angin® has a triple effect: it helps fight bacteria, relieves pain and helps to reduce inflammation and swelling3.

Anti-Angin® is indicated for manifestations of tonsillitis, pharyngitis and the initial stage of sore throat, it can be irritation, tightness, dryness or sore throat1,2,3.
