Top 10 drugs from the pharmacy

Throat preparations differ in composition, in particular, in the main active ingredients. Therefore, for several patients, the same remedy can provide varying degrees of effectiveness. However, there are a number of antiseptics whose efficacy has been tested over the years (if the use is consistent with the indications).

Hexoral

The spray has a pronounced effect against gram-positive bacteria, fungi of the genus Candida and viruses: predominantly group A, herpes simplex type 1 and respiratory syncytial virus, which causes an infection of the lower respiratory tract. The drug suppresses oxidative reactions in the metabolic processes of pathogens, thereby inhibiting their vital activity.Throat antiseptics for children, during pregnancy, adults with pharyngitis, sore throat. In tablets, spray, solutions

The effect is due to the main active ingredient - hexetidine, whose content in the preparation is 2% of the total volume. It also has mild anesthetic properties. The excipients contain levomenthol and eucalyptus oil.

Hexoral is not absorbed into the blood, but can stay on the surface of the gum mucosa for up to 65 hours.

The main indications for use are:

  • gum disease;
  • pharyngitis;
  • tonsillitis;
  • angina, incl. Plauta - Vincent and angina of the lateral pharyngeal ridges;
  • glossitis;
  • prevention of infectious diseases before and after surgery, as well as injuries.

Most often prescribed for children over 6 years old. 1 injection 2 times a day after meals. Children from 3 to 6 - after consultation with a specialist (pediatrician, or otolaryngologist).

Side effects are extremely rare. These are mainly hypersensitivity reactions, loss of taste, nausea, vomiting.

During use by pregnant women and during lactation, no negative effects of the drug were observed. However, there is still no sufficient laboratory data that could show the degree and nature of the effect of the drug on the fetus and breastfed baby.

Faringosept

Throat antiseptics are also available for younger children. Pharyngosept acts mainly on streptococci that affect the oral cavity and pharynx: S. haemolyticus, S. viridans, Pneumococcus.

It reduces the ability of bacteria to reproduce by inhibiting protein synthesis. This action is due to the presence of ambazon in the preparation, which has a maximum effect 3-4 days after the start of treatment. Each tablet weighing 1 g contains 10 mg of active ingredient.Throat antiseptics for children, during pregnancy, adults with pharyngitis, sore throat. In tablets, spray, solutions

Pharingosept is prescribed for acute and chronic inflammatory processes caused by pathogenic microorganisms. Side effects from its use are extremely rare and are caused by hypersensitivity to the drug, or to its individual components.

In particular, hereditary intolerance to fructose, or lactose, can cause bloating and diarrhea. Faringosept is not recommended for patients with similar disorders.

The course of treatment is 3-4 days. Children from 3 to 7 years old are shown 1 tablet 3 times a day. Keep in mouth until completely absorbed. Adults - 1 tablet 4-5 times a day. Do not eat food within 3 hours after dissolving the drug to maintain the therapeutic effect.

Septolet Total

The preparation contains two active ingredients at once - cetylpyridinium chloride and benzydamine. Together, they have a wide range of effects, inhibiting gram-positive, some gram-negative bacteria, as well as a large number of viruses.

The active ingredients may be effective against some fungi. Thus, benzydamine is able to influence the mechanism of building the cell wall of fungi, in particular Candida albicans, and inhibit their reproduction.

In addition to the bacterio- and fungistatic effect, Septolete has anti-inflammatory and analgesic properties due to the action of benzydamine. It, being an NSAID, directly affects cell membranes, inhibiting the production of prostaglandins.

The drug is available in several forms:

  • spray. Indicated for adults and children over 12 years old. It is recommended to irrigate the oral cavity every 2 hours for no more than 7 days. Apply after meals;
  • lozenges. Children's age - from 6 years old. Take 1 tablet every 3-6 hours until completely absorbed. The maximum allowable course is 7 days.

Septolet is designed to eliminate acute symptoms of throat and oral cavity diseases. Adverse reactions are rare and can manifest themselves in the form of an allergy to one of the components of the drug and bronchospasm.

Ingalipt

The effectiveness of the drug against bacteria and fungi is due to the presence of norsulfazole and streptocide in the composition. They, disrupting the synthesis of folate in the cell wall of the pathogen, inhibit its vital activity, relieve inflammation and have a mild analgesic effect. And eucalyptus and tea tree oils enhance the effect.

It is effective against:

  • bacteria. Gram-positive (streptococci, staphylococci, pneumococci) and gram-negative (Pseudomonas aeruginosa, Escherichia coli), aerobic and anaerobic;
  • mushrooms. Yeast, yeast-like, dermatophytes;
  • viruses. Including representatives with complex organization, such as the herpes virus and HIV.

Strepsils

The tablets are intended to eliminate the acute symptoms of an infectious process in the throat and oral cavity. The main active ingredients - amylmetacresol and dichlorobenzyl alcohol - eliminate perspiration, pain and relieve inflammation. They destroy proteins and lipids in the cell membrane of the pathogen, thereby slowing down their metabolism and reproduction.

Strepsils are produced with different tastes and effects:

  • with honey and lemon;
  • with menthol and eucalyptus;
  • with vitamin C;
  • Intensive honey-lemon / orange. Has a significant analgesic and antipyretic effect;

To treat infectious lesions of the oral cavity, it is necessary to irrigate the oral cavity by pressing the spray bottle twice. Repeat the procedure 2-3 times a day after meals.   • choline salicylate (5 mg). Relieves inflammation, has antipyretic effect and mild pain reliever;
  • chlorobutanol (2.5 mg). Acts as an analgesic.

The drug is approved for the treatment of children over 6 years old. The mucous membrane is irrigated 2-3 times a day by pressing the spray bottle once. For adults and children over 15 years old - 4-6 times a day.

At significant concentrations, it has an irritating effect in the spray areas. Through the mucous membrane, it is partially absorbed into the blood, excreted through the kidneys, intestines and exocrine glands.

For use in adults and children over 12 years of age. For the treatment of infectious and inflammatory diseases of the oral cavity and throat, one injection 4-6 times a day is enough. The spray is directed exactly to the affected area. Lugol is prescribed during pregnancy in cases where the benefits of the drug outweigh the possible risk to the fetus.

Many symptomatic medications are highly irritating and can cause bronchospasm in babies. However, there are throat antiseptics that are safe for children, including young toddlers. Among them are Miramistin, Bioparox, Geksoral and Orasept, allowed from 2 years old.
