Protargol is a solution based on silver proteinate, which stands out for its low price, high antiseptic and anti-inflammatory effect, and practically no side effects. Protargol Sialor is more effective, since it contains povidone, which has an enterosorbent effect. The drug, like the usual protargol, is approved for the treatment of children.

Composition and form of release

Protargol Sialor is sold in the form of a tablet and a solvent, from which a solution is made at home. The tablet has a flat round beveled shape and brown-black color (uneven color, silver-metallic sheen is possible). Injection water is used as a solvent. The finished solution is clear and has a light or dark brown color.

Tablet in the amount of 1 pc. placed in a transparent cellular blister, and the water is packed in a 10 ml polyethylene ampoule. In addition, a glass bottle is included in the package of the drug, in which it is required to combine the tablet and water. Indications for use

Protargol Sialor for children is used for the following pathologies:

• nasopharyngitis. Inflammation of the mucous membranes of the nose and throat, accompanied by swelling and redness of the tissues of the nose, accompanied by a runny nose;
• sinusitis. The development of inflammation in the mucous membranes of the nose, accompanied by the presence of nasal discharge;
• acute coryza. Allergic or infectious runny nose;
• otitis media of the middle ear. Inflammation of the tissues of the middle ear. The drug reduces the swelling of the nasopharyngeal mucosa.

Protargol Sialor can be prescribed to normalize the condition of tissues before diagnostic procedures. But it should be borne in mind that before the procedures, the nasal passages need to be cleaned, since the solution will stain them in a gray-blue color.

Contraindications

To reduce the likelihood of side effects, before using Protargol Sialor solution, the following contraindications must be excluded from the child:

• pronounced susceptibility to the composition of the tablet;
• atrophic rhinitis. The development of the inflammatory process in the nasal mucosa, accompanied by tissue and nerve atrophy;
• the child is less than 3 years old.

Method of administration and dosage for children

Protargol Sialor can only be used topically. The drug must be prepared before using it, since the shelf life of the finished solution is limited. To do this, remove the tablet from the package, put it in a bottle and fill it with water from an ampoule. Then close the bottle and shake it thoroughly. Shaking time approx. 8 min. The tablet should dissolve completely, without sediment. The choice of nozzle (pipette or spray) is determined by the age of the child.

Features of drug administration with a pipette:

1. Lay the child on his back on a flat, soft surface.
2. Ask the child to tilt their head back slightly so that the nasal passages are clearly visible when instilled. Do not throw your head back strongly, since in this case the medicine will flow into the throat without having time to provide a therapeutic effect.
3. Shake bottle and solution thoroughly.
4. Unscrew the pipette cap, but do not remove it from the bottle.
5. Press down on the rubber tip of the pipette cap and draw up the required amount of solution.
6. Remove the medicine dropper from the bottle.
7. Insert the end of the pipette into the nostril approximately 1 cm (the depth of insertion depends on the patient's age). In this case, the child should slightly turn his head to the side in which the drug is injected into the nostril. For example, when instilling the product with the left nostril, turn your head to the left.
8. Press down on the rubber end of the pipette cap as many times as necessary. One press - 1 dose.
9. Remove the pipette from the nostril.
10. Press the wing of the nose (at the nostril into which the solution is injected) and perform a light massage.
11. Treat the pipette with a clean cloth.
12. Similarly, introduce Protargol Sialor into the second nostril.
13. Treat the pipette with a disinfectant wipe and close the bottle.

After completing the procedure, the child should take about 3-5 deep nose breaths.

During the procedure, you must not fill the pipette completely, as it is possible to accidentally calculate the pressure force on rubber tip (for example, a child accidentally turned or pushed with his hand) and insert the entire contents into the nostril pipettes.

Features of drug administration by spray:

1. The child should be standing or sitting.
2. Shake the bottle and remove the cap from the sprayer.
3. Remove the cap and wipe the sprayer with a clean cloth.
4. Ask the child to breathe out.
5. Insert the nebulizer into the nostril, which is free to pinch with your finger.
6. Press the protruding parts of the spray gun the required number of times. During spraying, it is advisable for the child to inhale through the nose.

A solution of Protargol Sialor is considered a harmless drug, but at the same time, the use of the drug can cause the following symptoms to appear:

• allergies in the form of respiratory failure, urticaria, rashes.

Overdose

Protargol Sialor for children, when used topically, cannot cause the development of poisoning, since the components of the drug practically do not enter the bloodstream. But prolonged use of the solution (more than 20 days) can provoke nosebleeds.

If the solution is swallowed, the child may show the following signs of an overdose:

• pain in the upper abdomen;
• vomiting, or severe nausea;
• increased urination;
• diarrhea.
