Pink lichen is a skin disease that occurs against a background of reduced immunity( other names: Zhibera diarrhea or pityriasis).The disease can appear at any age, but the maximum incidence is fixed at the age of 10-40 years.

A typical clinical picture - flu-like onset with fever and malaise, the further appearance of pink spots - may remain without special attention from the patient and be regarded as an allergic reaction or other skin disease( see photo).However, despite the similarity of symptoms, the treatment of pink lichen in humans is radically different.

Pink lichen removes itself after 6-8 weeks from the onset of the disease with the formation of permanent( lifelong) immunity, although in some cases in people with weakened immune defenses the recurrence of symptoms of the disease is possible. In rare cases, pityriasis can pass into a chronic form and provoke the development of eczema.

The true cause of pink lichen is still not determined. There are several hypotheses of the appearance of the disease: viral( associated with herpes infection), fungal and allergic. In any case, the disease with pink deprive indicates immunodeficiency.

It is this condition that explains the appearance of pink spots after hypothermia, severe stress and emotional overexertion, suffered influenza or ARVI.

Insufficiently studied issue and transferring pink depriving a sick person to a healthy one. It is not impossible to get infected through a bite of insects. Often, the onset of the disease is associated with vaccination, intestinal disorders and metabolic disorders.

Some doctors highlight the contact and household way of infection, but it is possible and infection through the air. However, a healthy person with a strong immune system pink lichen is not scary even when in contact with a sick person.

Symptoms of pink lichen in humans

The beginning of skin rashes is preceded by a period similar to a viral infection. The first signs of pink lichen in humans are manifested as:

  1. Slight fever, weakness;
  2. Joint and headaches;
  3. Slight soreness in the throat, watery rhinitis;
  4. Lack of appetite, poor sleep;
  5. Increased regional lymph nodes( most often cervical).

The disease quickly passes into the stage of skin rashes, with the appearance of characteristic symptoms visible on the person pink depriving - with the beginning appears one large( up to 4 cm in diameter), a clearly limited spot - the mother plaque. On the pink, slightly elevated above the healthy skin, the background is clearly discernible small scales. Most often, the mother plaque forms on the chest.

After 1-2 weeks, the disease spreads throughout the skin of the whole body, while smaller rashes appear symmetrically and reach a diameter of 1-2 cm. The scaly patches are framed by a bright pink fringing, forming on the neck, shoulders and abdomen, hips.

spread of the disease over the body

Very rarely, these symptoms of pink lichen are found on the face. Their massive appearance lasts up to 2-3 weeks, after which the stage of regression begins( gradual fading).Usually, the disease does not provoke itching. However, the independent disappearance of spots is accompanied by dry skin, which can cause a desire to scratch the affected area.

Sometimes the disease occurs with the formation of a bubble rash. Pointed or merging elements can reach a diameter of 8 cm, but their number throughout the body is quite small.

For an atypical clinical form of pink lichen, the chronic course is particularly characteristic. The disease usually lasts 1 month, less often from the moment of the appearance of the maternal plaque to recovery is 2 months.

  • Pink lichen in children appears extremely rare, and recovery is 2 times faster.

Eruptions gradually disappear without special treatment, with the formation of little noticeable pigmentation or foci of leukoderma( skin discoloration), which also disappear on their own in 1 month.

Treatment of pink lichen - ointments, preparations and recommendations

Treatment of pink lichen

In most cases, the medicinal treatment of pink lichen does not require( antibiotics are used only when joining a secondary infection, and ointments - from itching).However, to exclude infection( streptoderma) and prevent the development of eczema during illness, you should follow certain rules.

Recommendations for patients with pink lichen:

  • Bathing is not allowed. Hygienic shower( not hot water!) Is taken with a soft means( avoid drying the skin) and does not scratch the skin with a washcloth. The washing is necessarily regular: sweat strongly irritates the damaged skin and aggravates the course of pityriasis.
  • If possible, exclude exposure to sun: unlike other skin diseases, sunlight with pink deprives negative impact on the course of the disease.
  • Wear only linen made from natural fabrics, discard synthetics and woolen clothes.
  • Exclude heavy physical exertion and stress.
  • Patient must provide an individual towel, regularly change the bed linen and bed linen.
  • Diet - to refuse from sharp, salty, smoked foods and marinades. Exclude alcohol and coffee, potentially allergenic foods: eggs, citrus fruits, honey, chocolate, fish, nuts. The menu should be full of fruits and vegetables.

Drug therapy

The use of certain medications is aimed at preventing complications. In no event should be used with iodine, alcohol, salicylic acid( including cosmetic lotion), ointments with sulfur, tar soap!

All these preparations cause strong irritation of the skin and increase its dryness, provoking the appearance of itching.

Preparations for the treatment of pink lichen in humans:

  • Antihistamine tablets( Claritin, Suprastin, Zirtek) - will soothe the itching. It should be noted that some of them cause drowsiness and are not recommended for use in people driving a vehicle.
  • Corticosteroids are used in the form of ointments( Hydrocortisone, Gyioxysone, Prednisolone and others) and only in cases of severe itching and prolonged course of the disease. Hormonal remedies, although quickly eliminating painful symptoms, have a negative impact not only on the skin( cause atrophic changes), but also on the body as a whole.
  • Antibiotics - antibacterial creams( including combined agents such as Triderm) are indicated when an infection is attached.
  • Multivitamin complexes( Vitrum, Alphabet, etc.) - strengthen the immune system and fill the lack of vitamins in the body.
  • Antiviral ointments( Zovirax, Acyclovir) - are suitable for external application in the formation of blisters, applied for 5-10 days 5 times a day. Accelerate the drying of bubbles and prevent the formation of new elements.

Folk methods of treatment of pink lichen

Home recipes can be a good help in the treatment of pityriasis. However, extreme methods - moxibustion with celandine juice and apple cider vinegar, greasing with a hot brown liquid, which is released during the burning of a newspaper roll - may even be dangerous.

Folk remedies for pink lichen, in the first place, should not irritate the skin and promote the spread of the disease! This also applies to the use of various compresses.

It is possible to regularly lubricate affected areas of the skin with herbal infusions of herbs that have antiseptic and antipruritic properties: calendula( especially effective ointment of calendula on a vaseline basis), chamomile, horsetail, elderberry( ingestion).

  • As a plant immunostimulant, you can use Echinacea, Aloe syrup and Schizandra( ingested).

Only a qualified dermatologist can differentiate pink lichen from another cutaneous pathology. Treatment of pink hair loss in a person must necessarily be performed by a doctor, self-medication is fraught with chronicization of the pathological process.

An important role in the speedy recovery is played by tempering the body and daily walks, adherence to the rules of rational nutrition and emotional stability. These measures help avoid eczema and streptoderma, provide the fastest recovery possible.
