Pubic pediculosis is a parasitic skin disease caused by pubic lice. These lice "love" to settle in the genital area( in the perineum, pubic) and next to the anus, because there are many apocrine glands. It is on these glands that the sense of smell of parasites is calculated in a specific way.
The lice themselves have a gray-yellow color and outwardly resemble miniature crabs. Because of their small size( no more than 0.3 cm), it is quite difficult to see them with the naked eye. Ploschitsy( namely, so called pubic lice) do not differ mobility, but they multiply rapidly by laying eggs. Food for them is only human blood, and the duration of their life does not exceed 24 days.

Who suffers from pubic lice
Previously described parasites received much more attention, mainly because they were carriers of typhus from one personanother. But today the appearance of typhus in most developed countries is almost impossible, hence, pediculosis is no longer considered something terrible. Although there is nothing pleasant about the fact that the carpenters will live on the skin, certainly not. Many believe that lice appear only in conditions of extreme unsanitary conditions, but this is not so - no one is immune from the disease, a woman can get sick even when she is pregnant.
Note! The cause of the disease is infection from the carrier of parasites. The infection itself can occur not only in intimate proximity, but also in the pool, bath, train or any other public place.
Features of infection
Settled on the skin of a new carrier, lice are attached to the hairs and begin their destructive activity. First they pierce the skin on the pubic to obtain the first dose of blood, while their salivary glands produce an enzyme that enters the wound and prevents clotting. As a result - the bites of the carpenter deliver a lot of inconvenience( mostly strong itching, but sometimes there is an allergy). And if you carefully examine the problem area, you can see cyanotic traces left after bites.
After being saturated with blood, lice begin to mate and lay eggs( eight to nine pieces per individual). With the help of a special secret, the eggs are attached to the hair, so they are not washed away even after the shower. Development lasts 14 days, then new eggs hatch from eggs.
Pubic lice in women symptoms
The disease( both in women and men) begins with an incubation period in which there are no signs yet, but the carpels are already on the body. Often the incubation lasts no longer than a month.
Once this period is over, several signs of an ailment appear, the most characteristic of which is a strong itch in the pubic area.
What is important, in some cases, itching also extends to adjacent areas of the body that have hair follicles( although there are not so many women in such areas). The degree of itching can be different: sometimes the patient does not even feel it, and sometimes( especially at night) it is intolerable. This leads to the fact that the woman combs the skin, because of what she - the skin - blushes, it forms eczema, moreover, through these combs, the organism can get secondary infectious diseases.
look In addition to itching, the symptom of pediculosis is the appearance on the skin of shady or blue spots( their diameter can reach 10 mm), which, nevertheless, quickly disappear. They appear due to minor hemorrhages caused by blood sucking, or deposition of a secret of pubic lice.
Note! Less commonly, the symptoms described above are accompanied by an allergic rash.
Dark spots may appear on the underwear, which are nothing more than products of the vital activity of the carpenters. Finally, a clear sign of the disease is the detection of lice and their larvae on the skin or underwear. The fact is that parasites, saturated with blood, become more noticeable, since their coloring acquires a shade of "rust".
Diagnosis of pubic lice
There is nothing complicated in diagnosing pubic lice. The fact is that complaints with such a disease are very characteristic, and on hairs and underwear it is almost always possible to detect the parasites themselves or their eggs. Therefore, the main diagnostic method is the examination of the body. Adult lice can be seen even with the naked eye, although this is often used magnifying glass. As noted above, lice are easier to see after they are filled with blood.
Visually, the eggs attached to the hair are similar to scales that appear in seborrhea. For this reason, hair can be examined under a microscope for a more accurate diagnosis. What is characteristic is that a normal shower or a bath of lice does not kill, nor does it relieve the sick from the larvae.
For this reason, pubic lice are treated with special shampoos and ointments containing insecticides. As a rule, it is enough just to apply the drug several times, but if there are a lot of carpenter, the woman can be shaved pubic hair. Sometimes after this( after about a week after the start of therapy) a re-treatment is prescribed.
Note! Pubic pediculosis can be transmitted and sexually, which means that partners should be checked and treated at the same time.
Pubic lice in pregnancy
Unfortunately, even pregnant women are not immune from any diseases, including pubic lice. But the main difficulty in this case is that during pregnancy it is forbidden to take most of the medications. Moreover, all the funds for pediculosis are toxic, so they may adversely affect the health of the baby's future.
There are two possible ways out:
- resort to folk methods( there is no 100% guarantee, besides, they too can be dangerous for the baby);
- agree to the mechanical removal of pubic lice.
As a result, we should note that in order to avoid the appearance of pubic lice, it is necessary to adhere to personal hygiene standards - to regularly change linens, take shower after intimacy, do not spend the night in hotels with dubious sanitary conditions and so on.
Although this, as we have already found out, does not always help, because lice can be picked up even with a banal visit to the pool. In this regard, with the slightest symptoms of the onset of an illness, you should immediately visit a dermatovenerologist who will put an accurate diagnosis and take care of further treatment.

- Furniture and other items, from contact with which a woman can get sick repeatedly, should be treated.
- Pubic hair is desirable to shave off( if it was not done before).
