3 Recommended food prior to examination.

The diet before gastroscopy is not typical, it's the main exclusive ration, that is, you can not use for several days:

• beef and pork meat;

• chicken with skin;
• bakery products;
• pasta;
• dishes from whole grains.

Dairy products that are acceptable:

Soup must be prepared on vegetable broth or low-fat fish or chicken broth without the addition of seasonings, vegetable oil, extra fat and fried foods. Broth of pork is to be deleted, it is too fat. From fish products you can eat hake, pike, perch, pollock or voblo, which must be eaten in boiled form or cooked in a special steamer without the addition of salt, spices and oil. 4 What products can not be consumed?

Prohibited fruit:

• tangerines;
• oranges;
• lemons;
• plum;
• quince.

The desired fruit set consists of bananas, pears and apples. It is best to eat them in grated form, and apples can be baked in the oven with honey or cottage cheese.

Is it possible to drink water while following a diet, what and how much? As stated above, doctors recommend that any drinks that contain water be consumed no less than 3 hours before the operation. In this case, the amount of liquid should not be more than 100 ml.

During the diet, you can drink coffee and tea with low strength and reduced sugar, the drink should be at room temperature. In addition to the main drinks, juice, table mineral water, herbal or berry decoction from rose hips, or blueberries and compote of dried fruits, raisins, apples and pears are acceptable.

5 Sensations and possible complications after examination

After the sensitivity of the muscles of the pharynx and tongue returns, you can drink a weak tea or a decoction of chamomile, and also eat soft and liquid food. An unpleasant sensation in the abdomen, belching and dryness in the throat can follow after the completion of a gastroscopy, but they do not require special treatment, because they go through a few days.

Of course, very rarely, but there are complications:

• infection in the gastrointestinal tract;

• internal bleeding.
