Pharmacokinetics of
Contains two active forms of betamethasone salt. Betamethasone disodium phosphate causes a rapid onset of therapeutic effect.
Betamethasone dipropionate is activated slowly, providing an elongation of the effective time of the drug.

Mechanism of action
The anti-inflammatory properties of the drug are due to the ability of betamethasone salts to inhibit the formation of inflammatory mediators( prostaglandins, leukotrients) and inhibit the activity of enzymes that exert a destructive effect on tissues.
Antiallergic effects of the drug are realized through a decrease in the formation of IgE-immunoglobulins, blocking the release of histamine mast cells, reducing tissue susceptibility to mediators of inflammation
The anti-shock and antitoxic action of the drug is associated with the stimulation of the body's compensatory reactions, including the activation of the cardiovascular system and the antitoxic function of the liver.
Immunosuppressive effect of diprospan is associated with its ability to inhibit the activity of lymphoid cells, inhibit their proliferative activity and maturation, including through mechanisms of suppression of the secretion of pro-inflammatory interleukins involved in immune responses.
Instruction for use
The preparation is available as an injection suspension in glass ampoules of 1 ml packed in plastic contour cells. Produced in cardboard packs in two packages - 1 and 5 ampoules each.
The drug is applied once or short course.
In acute joint diseases, as a rule, a single dose of the drug is sufficient, with chronic forms - the injections are repeated.
In small joints from 0.25 to 0.5 ml of the drug, in the middle - from 0.5 to 2 ml, in large - 1-2 ml. For intramuscular injections( the drug is injected into the gluteus muscle) is 1-2 ml.
Overdose and additional instructions
Even high doses of the drug do not pose a threat to life, but can cause various side effects( see below), especially when taking the drug against the background of diabetes mellitus, gastric ulcer, glaucoma.

Intramuscular injections must be administered deep to prevent local tissue atrophy. With intraarticular administration, it is necessary to exclude the presence of a septic process with the help of laboratory studies of synovial fluid. If there is intra-articular infection, the drug is not prescribed.
Alcohol increases the side effects of the drug, when treating the drug should completely eliminate the use of any alcoholic beverages.

Ephedrine, rifampicin, phenobarbital, phenytoin increase the metabolism of Diprospan and reduce its therapeutic activity.
The use of Diprospan simultaneously with diuretics increases the risk of hypoglycemia, with cardiac glycosides - the risk of arrhythmia, with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs and salicylates - the frequency of development and intensity of erosive-ulcerative gastrointestinal lesions increase.
