Bacterial prostatitis - what is it, treatment, symptoms and signs

click fraud protection

The male population is susceptible to bacterial prostatitis at a fairly young age( 20-40 years).

The overall prevalence of the disease( acute and chronic) of the entire male population is about 10%.

Classification of

The general classification of the disease identifies:

  • chronic bacterial prostatitis;
  • acute bacterial prostatitis.

Separately proposed for consideration:

  • complicated types of disease( stones, abscess);
  • uncomplicated.

Reasons for

Today, the cause of the appearance of bacterial prostatitis can be:

  • common causes( alcohol abuse;
  • low physical activity;
  • hypothermia;
  • immunosuppression);
  • infectious causes( trauma of the pelvic organs, kidney pathology, sinusitis, tonsillitis and some others).

Thus, it can be noted that the isolated penetration of the pathogen into the patient's body is not necessarily the main cause of the disease.

Diagnostics

The algorithm for diagnosing bacterial prostatitis consists of the following, approximate, procedure: 114f

insta story viewer
  • medical evaluation of the general condition of the patient;
  • general clinical studies( analyzes and cultures of urine);
  • diagnosis and exclusion of STI infections;
  • uroflowmetry( fixing the daily rhythm of urination, Meares test);
  • definition of prostate-specific antigen( PSA);
  • prostate secretion study( microscopic);
  • ultrasound examination of the retroperitoneal space, abdominal cavity, pelvic organs;
  • urography;
  • trial treatment of inflamed organs or symptoms of the disease.

The most common causative agent of bacterial prostatitis is Escherichia coli( about 80%).

Other pathogens then follow:

  • streptococci;
  • Chlamydia;
  • of staphylococci;
  • ureaplasma;
  • mycoplasma;
  • wand of Koch;
  • pale treponema.

Symptoms of

The clinical picture of the disease depends on:

  • of its form( chronic, acute prostatitis);
  • phases of the course( remission, exacerbation);
  • several, different signs of the disease.

When the chronic stage of bacterial prostatitis worsens:

  • inflammatory general syndrome( joint aches, chills, weakness, temperature);
  • inflammatory local syndrome( prolonged interruptions between defecation, pain in the suprapubic zone, pain in the perineum, abdominal pain);
  • syndrome of failures in the genitourinary system( (premature ejaculation( ejaculation), erectile dysfunction, painful intermittent sluggish urination));
  • symptoms are laboratory( changes in blood, urine and seminal fluid analysis).

The most common complaints are:

  • pronounced erectile dysfunction;
  • ejaculation disorder;
  • weakening of sexual desire;
  • ejaculation abnormalities;
  • emotional changes in the character( obsession, anxiety, quick temper, irritability).

Treatment

115f The treatment regimen for bacterial prostatitis is a fairly long-term measure( antibacterial therapy lasts two weeks).

The main drugs that have the desired therapeutic effect, in this case, are antibiotics-fluoroquinolones.

They possess:

  • high bioactivity, in relation to a variety of microorganisms;
  • penetrate directly to the tissues of the prostate.

If the main role belongs to intracellular atypical microorganisms, then antibiotics of the group of tetracyclines and macrolides take part in the treatment of the disease.

Treatment of a bacterial form of prostatitis is the most complicated task of modern urology.

Despite all the achievements of modern diagnostics and using the most progressive methods of treatment, complete elimination of the disease can be achieved only in 30% of cases.

Modern methods of therapy for bacterial prostatitis are presented in several main parts:

  • antibiotic therapy lasts about two weeks. Drugs of choice - fluoroquinolones, antibiotics, macrolides, the relief of a painful syndrome can be achieved using candles and tablets;
  • with the combination of pain and anxiety is recommended taking antidepressants( imipram, phauoxetini etc.);
  • for violation of urination alpha-1-andrenoblockers( alfuzosin, tamsulosin, etc.) can be used;
  • topical treatment of involves the use of microblogging with calendula and chamomile;Physiotherapy( UHF, magnetotherapy).

We should not forget about the terms of treatment, the multiplicity and dosage of drugs.

Their appointment is determined solely by the attending physician.

Avoid self-treatment!

Prevention

Preventive measures:

  • physical activity( preferably, swimming, running, gymnastics);
  • refusal of alcohol;
  • smoking cessation;
  • a rational diet( You can not - flour, pickled, pickled, smoked, spicy foods, you can - fruits, vegetables, bread, bran);
  • regular sexual relations, protected, with a regular sexual partner.

Consequences of

The consequences of bacterial prostatitis include: thromboses;male infertility;abscess of the prostate;impotence;descending and ascending infection of the genitourinary system( orchitis, epididymitis, cysts, pyelonephritis and others).

The bacterial prostatitis is contagious

By themselves, simple forms of prostatitis are not contagious.

But sometimes, in rare cases( !), Pathogenic microorganisms penetrate into the body of a man:

  • of staphylococci;
  • Chlamydia.

In such a situation, prostatitis becomes a serious infectious disease.

Chlamydia provoke the emergence of a dangerous disease - chlamydia.

Staphylococci are opportunistic microorganisms.

These diseases are related to STDs, that is, they can be saved only by using a barrier contraceptive - a condom.

Sometimes( very rarely) it is possible to genetic( hereditary) infection of one of the parents with a bacterial prostatitis of their child.

Do not forget about means of protection from pregnancy!

Take care of yourself.

Be Healthy!
