What is echopraxia and what are its causes?

The symptom of echopraxia, which specialists also call echinasia, is associated with a strong overexcitation in the brain regions.

A person unconsciously replicates the actions of other people. That is, repeats words( the so-called echolalia), the most simple gestures, swinging hands, facial expressions.

Echopraxia is a symptom of mental and neurological disorders and can manifest itself in three different forms:

1. Man mechanically reproduces speech or sound, repeating after others. Often there are abusive words in the speech. This type of violation is called echolalia .Linked to the disorder of the central nervous system, it is most common in childhood.
2. Autoechoinemia is the case when the patient repeats his own movements. Repetition of their words is called auto-echolalia.
3. Palilalia is considered a symptom of parkinsonism and Tourette's disease. There is a violation of speech, for which a continuous repetition of words is characteristic.

Symptom can become aggravated or relieved. There are periods of progress and regress.

Echopraxia and its varieties are typical for numerous neurological and psychiatric disorders:

1. Autism .Violation of the development of the brain, manifests itself in intellectual and cognitive impairments. Autism is closely related to genes. Symptoms of the disease can be seen at the age of about three years. These include the violation of motor skills, intelligence, speech activity.
2. Catatonic schizophrenia .This type of disorder occurs only in 3% of patients who are schizophrenic. The disease is characterized by a change in periods of stupor and excitement. Disorders of the motor system are observed. In a stupor a patient can spend from several hours to several days, in absolutely any position, even in the one that leads to discomfort of a healthy person. In this case, the reaction to the outside world can be zero.
3. Ganzer's syndrome .A mental disorder that can be triggered by a stressful situation. It occurs rarely and mostly in the male sex. Behavior in this syndrome is unnatural, a patient using autosuggestion convinces herself and doctors of the acute need for treatment. In this case, the patient actually feels sick. The symptomatology of the disease is closely related to disturbances in actions and speech. The patient can answer elementary questions with words that are not suitable in the sense.
4. The next disease in which echopraxia often develops is Tourette's syndrome .Symptoms that determine the presence of the disease: involuntary sounds, cries, a sharp change of behavior, inexplicable actions. All this occurs against a background of a neuropsychic disorder. Most often suffer from this babies from two to five years, or teenagers from thirteen to eighteen. Scientists have found out that there is a possibility of transferring this violation by genetic means.
5. Clinical depression , but not all forms. Depressive people are exposed to people with a strong sensitivity to stress. A reprimand at work or even dismissal can lead to such a state. Symptoms of the disease are fast fatigue, self-doubt and in the future, severe sleep and appetite disorders, memory problems, decreased interests.

It has been observed that with autism and depression, echopraxia is less pronounced and can manifest as episodes. What can not be said about Tourette's syndrome or catatonic schizophrenia, the symptoms of which gradually become violent.

There is no definite treatment for echoconstiasis, it all depends on the therapy of provoking diseases. Only in this case it is possible to relieve the painful symptoms.
