More recently, an unusual fact has been established. It turned out that regular use of contraceptives reduces the development of ovarian cancer in women.
Scientists have revealed that in comparison with the average indicators for 100 thousand women who use oral contraceptives for 10 years or more, the incidence of ovarian cancer is lower by 12 people.
The statistics allowed the scientists to put forward the hypothesis that some substances contained in contraceptives are a real means of preventing cancer, and on their basis, you can create specialized medications, or even vaccinations. However, a new statistical study soon dispelled this myth.
It was found that oral contraceptives are beneficial only to the risk of developing ovarian cancer, while the probability of developing other cancers they actually have no effect. Moreover, the scientists found with astonishment that in the general statistics of cancers, women using contraceptives - on the contrary, are at risk, since in the case of breast cancer the same 100 thousand women account for 50 cases of cancer more, in comparison with the average indicators. Thus, it is easy to calculate that in the end, there are 38 cases of cancer more per 100,000 women who regularly use hormonal drugs to prevent unwanted pregnancies than in case of women using other contraceptive methods.
Along with this, scientists urge women to refrain from taking birth control pills because they can cause blood clots. This fact has been proven for a relatively long time, and primarily refers to hormonal drugs containing substances such as drospirenone, desogestrel or gestodene. And if the probability of developing cancer, these drugs begin to affect, only 10 years after the start of their use, in the case of blood clots it is a much shorter term - according to scientists, it is about 3-5 years, depending on the nature of the organism.
