a blood test for a brain tumorWith the formation of a malignant tumor, a blood test cannot be unambiguous, however, it is he who allows in practice to determine the presence of a terrible disease.

Special changes in the composition of the blood in case of oncological diseases begin to appear in different organs already in the last stages of the disease, and often depend on the localization of the cancer focus tumors.

A blood test for a brain tumor is rarely done for prophylaxis.. Using a blood test, the tumor is not difficult to detect, but not in the early stages of development, while the disease has not yet launched its roots into the human body: most often it is found at the middle or last stage diseases.

The first obvious sign of a tumor is anemia, most often iron deficiency. The number of erythrocytes, hemoglobin, color index decreases markedly. There is microspherocytosis in the medium of erythrocytes. Anemia occurs as a result of the absorption of large volumes of iron by the tumor tissue, and erythrocytes primarily suffer from this. Iron deficiency anemia develops.

There is an average increase in the number of leukocytes in the blood - leukocytosis, without a noticeable turn of the leukocyte formula to the left. Thrombocytosis and monocytosis are found only in the last stages of the development of oncology. All neoplasms are characterized by a significant increase in ESR (erythrocyte sedimentation rate).

A brain tumor is called a glioma.

Tumors of the nervous system (central, peripheral system and brain) can be found much less frequently than neoplasms of other human organs. The share of oncological diseases of the nervous system is barely four percent of the total number of diseases of the body.

Tumors are classified by:

  • their degree of maturity;
  • histological formula;
  • localization.

The largest number of cases of detection of tumors belongs to neuroectodermal (almost 60% of cases) and membrane-vascular (20%).

In oncology, cerebrospinal fluid analysis is often used - a method of laboratory diagnostics for detecting neoplastic diseases of the brain. Usually, with this diagnostic method, a too high protein content is found (almost three times) and a moderate cytosis is observed, formed at the expense of lymphocytes.

Puncture of the spinal cord requires extremely careful use, since severe the consequences of intracranial hypertension (a sharp change in pressure, provoking the dislocation of the cerebral substances). In this case, a little use of the linker is recommended.

For stable predictions and calculating the feasibility of surgery, biopsy is extremely important.

In order to diagnose brain oncology, various methods of molecular biology are used.
