"Hyastat" or synovial fluid prosthesis is a modern remedy intended for the restoration of cartilaginous tissue after a negative impact of primary, secondary arthrosis and other deformities of the joints.
It is also called a "liquid prosthesis" or "implant joint", as it is injected directly into the cavity of the affected joint( most often the knee), replacing the synovial fluid, whose functions include reducing friction in the joint, slowing its deformation and protecting against overloads.
The injection solution is available in sterile glass syringes with a capacity of 2 mg / 20 ml and is a clear viscous hydrogel. The syringe is sealed and, together with the instructions for use, is placed in a cardboard box.

The purpose of using a "liquid implant"
The synovial fluid that occupies the cavity of the joint capsule is extremely important for ensuring free movement of one or another joint.
It lubricates the cartilage, making it more elastic and elastic, and is constantly updated when the person moves. Prolonged being in a state of rest during the post-traumatic period, advanced age and acquired diseases disrupt this balance.
Synovial fluid ceases to stand out, becomes more viscous and ceases to perform its basic functions. So, a person can feel discomfort in the joint, crunching and stuff.
In such cases, a synovial fluid prosthesis is shown, which allows to restore the functionality of the joint and remove the pain syndrome.
Pharmacological action
Hyaluronic acid is the main active ingredient of the drug, which, replacing the synovial fluid in the patient's joint, allows to reduce the load, reduce the pain syndrome and improve the overall condition of the patient.
The drug, correctly inserted into the joint, is very positively formed on the course of a person's illness. On the damaged cartilage a protective film is formed, which increases the sliding of the contacting parts of the joint.
Absorbing into the superficial layer of cartilaginous tissue, hyaluronic acid makes it more elastic and elastic, which allows the cartilage affected by arthrosis, to restore damping functions and freedom of movement.
The use of an articular implant allows to stop deformations caused by a disease, to slow down the rate of its development and to provide long-term remission.
Pharmacokinetics and formulation
One dose of the drug, usually a syringe with a clear viscous solution, contains:
- 20 mg of hyaluronic acid - the main active component;
- excipients - sodium chloride, phosphate buffer and purified water.
Application spectrum
The spectrum of application of a solution is wide enough.
The purpose of the drug may be due to such factors:
- for the treatment of primary, secondary arthrosis, including traumatic;
- if local recovery of synovial homeostasis is necessary;
- to ease the patient's condition and reduce the pain syndrome;
- in order to restore the mobility of the joint, increase the period of remission.
Contraindications
Hyastat is not recommended for use in the presence of:
- of individual intolerance to the components of the drug;
- foci of inflammation and infection in the affected joint;
- of the fourth stage of deformation, confirmed by the roentgenogram;
- such diseases as hemarthrosis and synovitis.
Usage rules
Hyastat is injected directly into the joint cavity( most often knee joint).
The maximum dose is 2ml / 20g in one joint. In parallel, you can inject the medicine into several joints, if necessary.
The course of treatment is usually 3 to 5 injections with an interval of 7-10 days. If necessary, injections can be repeated after 6-12 months.
Before the direct administration of the solution, it is necessary to carry out such studies as:
- joint X-ray in two projections;
- general analysis of the patient's blood and urine.
Basically, the injection into the joint is made by anterior access, avoiding the damage to the cartilage of the joint with the injection needle.
Introduction should be easy, without resistance, which confirms the fact of falling into the joint cavity.
Otherwise, the procedure is not performed correctly and there will be extremely undesirable consequences( pain, swelling, fever, etc.).
After fluid administration, it is necessary to ensure the joint rest for several days. If necessary, the patient is allowed to take anesthetic non-steroid drugs.
Cases of overdose by practice have not been established, since the drug is strictly accountable and is dispensed only by prescription.
Specific instructions
The instructions for use clearly state the limitations and cautions when using Hyastat, so when treating this agent, do not:
- insert the solution into the capsule of the joint and blood vessels;
- add other components and build it anything;
- use it if the packing is damaged;Use
- after the expiry date or try to sterilize.
To date, incompatibility with similar drugs for insertion into the joint cavity has not been identified.
When conducting toxicity studies, it was found that the drug is well tolerated by patients and has low rates of allergic reactions.
The drug is not given to pregnant women and nursing mothers. The drug is contraindicated for children under the age of 18 years.
Side effects of
It has been established by practice that very rarely during the day after the injection in the puncture area, swelling, tenderness, and redness can occur.
In such cases, local anesthesia is recommended with non-steroidal anti-inflammatory agents or with a cold compress.
Practical experience - the whole head
Reviews of doctors and patients who use Hyastat for the treatment of joint diseases.
Hyastat is a good domestic alternative to expensive foreign drugs. The most important thing is to properly inject to get a positive result.
I recommend it to my patients with knee joint problems. It is most advisable to apply the drug at stages 2 and 3 of arthrosis, when the cartilage is deformed and depleted, but not completely destroyed. At stage 1, in the absence of a clinical picture, hyaluronic acid is not useful.
Valery Leonidovich, a doctor with 20 years of experience
I suffer from arthrosis of knee joints of 1-2 degrees. Injections of Hyastat did for the first time. The first few days after the procedure, the puncture sites ached, there was a small swelling. The doctor advised to anesthetize with a nonsteroid agent. The pain subsided gradually and after five days completely passed. It was much easier to walk!

My father has been taking courses of treatment with Hyastat for several years. So far, everything was fine, but after the last injection the joint was badly hurting, the leg was swollen, he could not even stand up on it, the fever rose.
As a result, it turned out that the doctor did not get into the joint cavity, long rehabilitation and expensive treatment was required.
Sergey, 36
Has passed a course of treatment by a preparation consisting of three injections. After a broken leg, the right knee is very worried. The procedure is not pleasant, but there is relief. Getting up and walking is easier. The doctor said that the effect will last about a year.

I am a professional sportsman-weightlifter. Recently, there have been problems with the hip and knee joint. Roentgen showed arthrosis of 1-2 degrees. About the sport had to forget.
A large number of medications, massages, acupuncture has been tested - nothing has brought results.
I had to go to the extreme, I thought, measures - prosthesis synovial fluid. A couple of days after the procedures with Hyastat I again returned to active work and again think about sports loads.

We must remember!
Executive Summary:
- should only be used as directed;
- entrust the execution of the procedure to a qualified expert;
- does not engage in self-medication, in this case it is dangerous.
Purchase and storage of
Hyaluronic acid preparations are quite expensive, so the price of one dose of Hyastat in a 2mg / 20ml vial / syringe is about 2700-3100 rubles .
The solution in sterile packaging should be stored for 24 months from the date of manufacture at a temperature of + 5 ° C to +15 ° C.The drug is sold strictly by prescription and is injected into the joint only by a specialist.
