The disease develops due to the penetration of the yeast fungi of the genus Candida into the genitourinary system. These microorganisms occupy the microflora of any healthy man, but if their level exceeds the norm, we can talk about the occurrence of candidiasis( the second name of thrush).

Many members of the stronger sex are interested in the question of whether a yeast infection is transmitted to a man from a woman. Physicians give an affirmative answer and explain that this is only one of the possible ways of infection.

If a man leads an active lifestyle, properly eats, possesses strong immunity, has no bad habits and is in a relationship with a permanent partner, in whose health he is fully confident - the risk of contracting the milkwoman is reduced to zero.

Types and causes of candidiasis inmen

Thrush in men

Depending on the location of the infection, the three most common varieties of the disease are distinguished.

  1. General lesion of the skin.
  2. Lesion of the oral mucosa.
  3. Lesion of the glans penis.

Of course, men can get infected with candidiasis due to unprotected sexual intercourse with an infected partner. However, this way of infection is rare due to the peculiarities of the structure of male genital organs.

A more likely cause of the occurrence of pathology is the presence of one or more predisposing factors:

  • Diseases that reduce the immune system( oncological pathologies, HIV, blood diseases and hematopoietic organs);
  • Disorders of the endocrine system. For example, hypothyroidism or hyperthyroidism may contribute to the emergence of thrush men. The causes of this ailment may also be in the presence of diabetes mellitus, as well as violations of metabolic processes that lead to obesity;
  • Immunodeficiencies and beriberi caused by digestive disorders and improperly balanced diets;
  • Infectious diseases of the genitourinary system, accompanied by inflammatory processes and developed due to the penetration into the body of mycoplasmas, trichomonads, chlamydia;
  • Violations of the natural balance of microflora;
  • Abuse of exposure to the body of ultraviolet radiation;
  • Congenital or acquired phimosis;
  • Frequent emotional overload;
  • Regular and prolonged cases of hypothermia;
  • Absence of antifungal therapy with prolonged use of corticosteroids, immunosuppressants and antibacterial drugs.

First signs and symptoms of thrush in men

The first signs of thrush in men

The first signs of thrush in men are observed after the expiration of the incubation period, which lasts an average of 5 days. During this time, candidiasis develops in stages.

  1. Stage 1 st. During this period, the fungus should be able to gain a foothold in the body, namely, on the surface of any of the mucous membranes.
  2. Stage 2-nd. At this stage, the fungus actively multiplies. If the immunity is not weakened, the body suppresses the pathogenic microflora on its own and on this the disease fades. But, if the immune system failed, the microorganisms begin to actively divide, respectively, thrush passes into the next stage of development.
  3. Phase 3.Fungus penetrates deep layers of tissues. This process can be prevented by local protective cells - antibodies, microphages, leukocytes.
  4. Stage 4-th. If these cells do not properly perform a protective function, the bacteria enter the blood lymph and the total blood flow carries them throughout the body. It is at this stage that there is extensive damage to many internal organs.

After the incubation period, the following primary symptoms of thrush in men appear:

  • discomfort in the perineal zone;
  • burning during the process of urination;
  • itching around the penis:
  • general weakness;
  • worsening of the psychoemotional state;
  • increased fatigue.
