Surgery-herniologists are engaged in treatment of such diseases.

Umbilical hernia is a disease in which the abdominal organs exit through the umbilical ring. This is due, first of all, to the fact that the abdominal tissues in the navel area weaken and the so-called "abdominal gates" open.

Diseases are complicated by the fact that the anatomical structure of the internal organs is changing: the omentum and intestinal loops get into the hernial sac. Sometimes the umbilical hernia may become aggravated by the release of fatty tissue, but it does not form a hernial sac.

Umbilical hernia develops due to certain defects in the abdominal cavity, the appearance of which is provoked by increased intra-abdominal pressure. Most often this disease affects children, and the diagnosis is confirmed in the first months of life. Only 5% of the adult population suffer from an aggravation of the umbilical hernia.

The umbilical hernia is detected quite simply by visual observation: in the vertical position of the person, a prominence in the navel region of a round or oval shape is noticeable. In the horizontal position, such signs pass.

This disease is more affected by women, especially after 30 years or after pregnancy;pregnancy weakens the umbilical ring. Doctors distinguish among the causes of umbilical hernia physical activity, obesity and impaired volume of substances.

When the hernial gate is quite wide, the hernia can be re-applied back, if they are narrow, then we can talk about surgery. Exacerbation of the umbilical hernia is characterized by vomiting, sharp pain in the abdomen and high fever.

Danger of the development of this disease remains pinching the internal organs of the abdominal cavity, intestinal obstruction, metabolic disorders. In extremely severe cases, a fatal outcome may occur. If the umbilical hernia hurts and changes in the navel area are noticeable, the doctor should be urgently consulted.

Operative intervention to eliminate this disease are open and laparoscopic. During the first, the patient lends itself to local anesthesia, and recovery begins after 5-7 days.

Laparoscopy occurs under general anesthesia. During the operation around the umbilical region, 4 incisions are made, and the hernial gates are closed from the inside. This reduces the traumatism of tissues and speeds up the process of rehabilitation.
