Leeches with prostatitis

click fraud protection

Hirudotherapy is the use of medical leeches to treat various diseases. One of the pathologies that effectively responds to this non-standard method of treatment is prostatitis, that is, the inflammatory process of the prostate gland. There is a large amount of data from various studies in which it is noted that the treatment of prostatitis with leeches shows a good result.

This is due to the fact that during the procedure that allows to get rid of prostatitis, the blood flow in a particular area, in this case - the prostate area, is stimulated. It should be noted that the disease often accompanies men older than 35 years, it can be established on the basis of ultrasound examination and clinical and anamnestic data. The most common causes of the development of pathology are:

  • Hypodinamia;
  • Harmful habits;
  • Infectious processes.

The use of hirudotherapy is not indicated in the presence of infectious genesis, as it is ineffective in the presence of infectious agents.

Components of

treatment Most patients are interested in the question of how effective hirudotherapy is in the treatment of prostatitis. Doctors unanimously agree that this method of treatment of this disease is best used in combination with traditional methods of treatment, with the obligatory observation of the attending physician.

Efficiency hirudotherapy is based on three mechanisms of action:

  • Mechanical. Leeches allow you to reduce the volume of circulating blood in the prostate. For this purpose, a scheme is used for leeches with prostatitis, which the doctor who uses the technique must know well;
  • Reflective. In order for the leech to adhere, no additional impact techniques are needed, since it bites itself in the necessary places. These places are called acupuncture points, and the impact on them serves as triggers for starting reflex reactions. Due to these reactions, microcirculation of the blood of the prostate zone improves;
  • Biological. When a leech bites into the bloodstream, its saliva enters, in which there is a large number of nutrients. They allow improving the clinical picture of pathology and strengthening the protective mechanisms of our body.

Blood thinning mechanism

In addition to the three above-described mechanisms of action on the human body, the effectiveness of the use of leeches is also due to the fact that they inject a substance called hirudin into the bloodstream when bitten. It has an effect, the reverse thrombin, which is the activator of clotting. It should be noted that the density of blood and the presence of prostatitis have some dependence: the clinic is brighter, the thicker the blood.

After hirudin enters the bloodstream, it is somewhat diluted, and the blood flow is accelerated. This process somewhat facilitates the course of prostatitis by improving the trophic processes. The general condition of the body also improves.

Treatment regimens of

The most common two regimens are the treatment: the first is called the X-shaped, the second implies the point of placing leeches at a distance no more than 2 centimeters from the middle of the perineum in both directions. Where to put leeches with prostatitis is always determined by the attending physician, since there may be a slight deviation from both schemes. Up to five leeches per session of such therapy.

It should be noted that one leech can be used once. This is due to the existence of quite a few diseases that can be transmitted with blood. Among them, the most famous are HIV and hepatitis.

The full course of treatment takes about a month, and includes five sessions, between which a mandatory break. It should be borne in mind that such a procedure should be carried out exclusively in a stationary setting and only by a doctor. The independent setting of leeches at home can lead to various consequences, and putting leeches correctly is also not always possible without outside help.

Detailed description of the treatment regimen

  • The first session of hirudotherapy involves putting leeches in the right hypochondrium and the solar plexus. Before performing the procedure it is desirable to perform a therapeutic back massage in order to eliminate the phenomena of stagnation. This moment can not be underestimated, because it is important in the therapy of not only prostatitis, but also many other diseases accompanied by stagnation of lymphatic fluid and blood in the organs.
  • In the second procedure, leeches are placed in the lap region at three different points. The first of them is located slightly higher than the root of the penis, the rest - at a distance of up to two centimeters on the sides. It will not be superfluous to perform massage of this area before the beginning of the session. The procedure is performed exclusively by the attending physician, since this is an intimate enough and delicate place.
  • The third and fourth sessions are also performed locally and should not be performed at home. This is due to the fact that, in addition to the correct location of leeches, it is necessary to apply special bandages after their removal, which requires certain skills.
  • During the final, fifth, session, leeches are usually located on the coccyx. The described scheme is exemplary and can vary depending on the results of treatment of prostatitis.

All sessions require about 40 leeches, usually 35 individuals, the rest are needed "in reserve" in case they do not want to suck. To maximize the effect of this procedure, it is necessary to undergo several hirudotherapy courses with interruptions of several months between them. Usually, relief comes after the first one.

Treatment of this pathology with the help of leeches allows you to influence the main etiological factor of the process, but not in the case of infectious genesis. It should be noted that traditional drug therapy is also aimed at the cause of the disease, but it is not always effective.

The duration of treatment can vary and depends on the clinical picture of each individual patient, and also on the severity of the process. The doctor is obliged to note the patient's state of health after each leech therapy session, depending on this, the area of their location during the following procedures can be adjusted.

Leeches allow to reduce or even completely eliminate the phenomenon of stagnation in the prostate gland and other organs. This is what determines the success of treatment for prostatitis and allows you to achieve good results. It should be borne in mind that such a non-standard method is prescribed exclusively by a doctor, since it must be well combined with drug therapy and physiotherapy methods. Treatment at home does not always allow you to get rid of the process, as well as with self-care, the responsibility for your health completely lies with you.
