Myoma of the uterus( leiomyoma, fibromyoma) is a tumor of a benign neoplasm consisting of the muscular and connective tissue of the uterus body.
Reasons for the formation of uterine fibroids
There are various reasons that contribute to the formation of myoma nodes, however, only two of them are the most common and are the main:
- hormonal imbalance;
- damage to myometrium tissue.
Hormonal disorders are usually caused by malfunctions in the sexual( reproductive) system, or in other endocrine systems.
Regulation of cell growth of uterine tissues can be disturbed due to ruptured smooth muscle cells.
For example, during scraping of the uterine cavity during abortion, prolonged wearing of intrauterine contraceptives, inflammatory, intrauterine processes( endometritis, myometrium).
The development of fibroids may be affected by a number of secondary factors:
- adverse, environmental factors;
- genetic( hereditary) predisposition;
- chronic stress.
The myomatous nodes are arranged in groups or individual formations.
The dimensions of the node depend on the degree of lesion of the myoma( from several millimeters, and up to several tens of centimeters).
Most often,( in 95%), the nodes are in the tissues of the uterus.
Significantly less often - in the cervix or in the ligamentous uterine apparatus.
Node types:
- submucous, centripetal nodes grow to the uterine center and are divided into three main types( type 0, type 1, type 2);
- knots on the foot;
- subserous nodes growing outside the uterine cavity, towards the abdominal cavity;
- intramural or interstitial nodes growing in the thickness of the uterine walls.
Myoma affects the female body, regardless of its size and stage of development.
Myoma of the uterus is characterized by:
- redistribution and increased blood flow;
- anatomy and physiology of the uterus;
- by changing the hormonal local status.
Myometrium( uterine tissue) is hypertrophied and hopperplasizes on tissue assemblies.
Similar changes are observed in the uterus during pregnancy.
A healthy uterus differs from myomatous by its ability to contract( myomatous uterus shrinks significantly worse).
This feature is clearly visible during menstrual bleeding.
Absence of uterine contractions leads to increased vaginal bleeding and rejection of the endometrium.
A woman can experience pain in the pelvic organs, which is a serious problem in sexual life.
Symptoms of uterine fibroids
Symptoms of uterine fibroids include:
- permanent gravity in the lower abdomen;
- recurrent pain;
- intermenstrual uterine discharge and bleeding;
- yield of a large volume of bloody menstrual clots;
- long, profuse and painful menstruation.
The large size of fibroids affect the breadth of its distribution.
Thus, the large size of uterine fibroids leads to disruption in the work:
- of neighboring organs;
- spontaneous miscarriage;
- infertility.
