Flatulence: symptoms, treatment, diet

click fraud protection

Flatulence is a common condition. Its essence lies in the increased accumulation of gas in the gastrointestinal tract. Flatulence can be felt in apparently healthy individuals with overeating, eating foods which cause flatulence digestion.

When the tackle ratio between the gas formation in the intestine, its suction and removal conditions arise for the excessive accumulation of gases in the gastrointestinal tract.

There are three main sources of gas in the gut: swallows air; gases from the lumen of the cecum and the gases entering from the blood. Normally, in the gastro-intestinal tract contains on average about 200 ml of gas.

In healthy people daily through the rectum for around 600 ml of gas, however, individual differences ranging from 200 to 2600 ml. Unpleasant odor emissions from gases ulcer associated with the presence of aromatic compounds such as indole, skatole, hydrogen sulfide produced in the colon by the impact on microflora in the small intestine undigested organic connection.

the gases accumulating in the intestine are foam with a plurality of small bubbles, each of which is surrounded by a layer of viscous mucus. This mucous foam surface covered with a thin layer of the intestinal mucosa, which in turn difficult parietal digestion, reduces the activity of enzymes that interfere with the absorption of nutrients substances.

Causes

Causes of flatulence in the intestine are extremely diverse. Flatulence can be a child in the first days after birth as a result of the imperfections of the enzyme system or a violation of its functions. Lack of enzymes leads to penetration of a large amount of undigested food residues in the lower parts of the digestive tract and activation of the processes of putrefaction and fermentation with gas release.

Violations of the enzyme system may arise when unbalanced diet, as well as in various diseases of the upper gastrointestinal tract (gastritis, duodenitis, pancreatitis, cholecystitis, Hepatitis). Another reason for the increased gas production in the intestine is a violation of the microflora of the colon.

Under normal conditions, most of the gas is absorbed by bacteria living in the gut. When an imbalance between gazprodutsiruyuschimi and gazpotreblyayuschimi microorganisms occurs flatulence.

Another mechanism of its occurrence - bowel distension as a result of a violation of his motor activity, developing at different abdominal surgery. After surgery, usually disturbed bowel motility. Slowing down the passage of food masses enhances fermentation and putrefactive processes with high gas formation. The gases accumulating in the lumen of the intestine inactive, causing paroxysmal pain.

The reason for increasing the amount of gas in the gut may be foodstuffs. In addition to leguminous crops and foods containing crude fiber, these include highly carbonated beverages, foods, causing fermentation reaction (mutton), as well as products in which the reactions take place independently fermentation and fermentation (kvass). Nervous disorders, emotional stress can lead to flatulence due to spasm of smooth muscles of the intestine and slowing peristalsis.

Depending on the cause of flatulence are the following types:

  • while a diet rich in cellulose and eating beans;
  • digestive problems (gastritis, pancreatitis, cholelithiasis);
  • due to bacterial overgrowth in the small intestine and colon tackle bios;
  • by mechanical abuse evacuation bowel function (tumors, adhesions);
  • movement disorders due to bowel function (acute infection, intoxication);
  • while general and local circulatory disorders;
  • flatulence caused by psycho-emotional overloads and neuropsychiatric disorders;
  • when it picked up to a height where the gases expand and the pressure in the intestines increases.

manifestations of flatulence

Flatulence manifested bloating or cramping pain attacks may be accompanied by nausea, belching, loss of appetite, constipated or diarrhea.

two options manifestations of flatulence can be identified:

  • In some cases, the main manifestation is a significant increase in stomach due to abdominal bowel, the flatus does not occur due to spasm of the colon. Basic feeling - discomfort, abdominal distension and pain.
  • The second variant is characterized by constant rapid discharge of gas from the intestine, which significantly limits the quality of life and stay in the community. When this pain is expressed slightly, dominated by complaints of "rumbling" and "transfusion" in the stomach.

Flatulence may occur extra-intestinal symptoms of the cardiovascular system (burning sensation in the heart rhythm disturbance, mood disorder, sleep disturbance, General weakness).

Treatment

The principle of treatment of flatulence is to eliminate the causes of increased gas production. Treatment may comprise the following steps:

  • diet therapy;
  • treatment of diseases caused flatulence;
  • recovery of motor disturbances (by assigning prokinetics);
  • treatment of disorders of intestinal biocenosis (biologics);
  • removing accumulated gases from the intestinal lumen.

Used in treatment of flatulence absorbing agent: activated carbon (effective only in high doses), white clay, Polyphepanum, dimethicone, polysorb. They reduce the absorption of gases, toxins and other compounds as well as promote their removal.

Flatulence carminative effect have some herbal remedies: fruit extracts of cumin, coriander, dill, fennel, chamomile flowers, mint leaves.

At the absolute or relative deficiency of the secretion of digestive enzymes essential ingredients disturbed digestion of food. As a means of substitution therapy with insufficient gastric and intestinal glands, pancreas Iron is used pepsin, pancreatin, natural gastric juice, as well as the number of combined drugs.

Power flatulence

The organization of a balanced diet includes patients with the exception of products containing roughage (cabbage, sorrel, grape, gooseberry), leguminous crops and products causing fermentation reaction (kvass, beer, carbonated water).

Recommended dairy products, crisp cereals (buckwheat, millet), vegetables and fruits are cooked form (carrot, beet), meat only boiled, white bread from wheat flour with bran.
