Bepanten is a Swiss drug for external use, which can be purchased as a cream, ointment or lotion. The main element (dexpanthenol) has a moisturizing, regenerating and anti-inflammatory effect. The cream and ointment contain 50 mg of the main substance per 1 g of the product, and the lotion contains 25 mg per 1 ml of the medication.
The drug is popular for eliminating diaper rash, skin irritation and itching in children and adults. An analogue of Bepanten for children is more often selected with an identical active substance, then the substitute will have a therapeutic effect closer to the original. But if the drug is canceled due to the intolerance of the main component, then the analogue should include another active element in the composition.
This article provides an overview of the drugs most similar in therapeutic action to Bepanten and approved for use in childhood.
D-Panthenol
An analogue of Bepanten for children with the name D-Panthenol can be purchased in the form of a cream or ointment. The active ingredient of the drug is dexpanthenol in an amount of 50 mg per 1 g of medication (as well as from the original), which helps to accelerate wound healing, moisturize the skin and eliminate inflammation. The drug is produced by companies from Croatia, Germany and Russia.
Indications for the use of D-Panthenol are completely identical to Bepanten, which is prescribed for:
- minor burns, including sunburn;
- bedsores or diaper rash, as well as to prevent the development of these pathologies;
- minor abrasions and scratches;
- long healing wounds;
- to accelerate the healing of postoperative sutures;
- to eliminate itching with chickenpox or from an insect bite;
- to moisturize the epidermis;
- to speed up the elimination of bruises;
- to eliminate boils and other purulent formations or ulcers on the skin;
- irritation of the skin caused by prolonged exposure to ultraviolet radiation or X-rays;
- to eliminate or facilitate the course of dermatological pathologies, including allergic rashes;
- to accelerate the healing of nipple cracks in nursing mothers;
- to eliminate peeling, irritation or redness of the epidermis;
- to accelerate the recovery of the epidermis after skin transplantation;
- to eliminate cracks in the anal passage;
- to protect open areas of the skin from harmful environmental factors (frost, increased dryness, strong winds);
- for the treatment of lips when chapped or cracked.
Also, both funds are used to treat areas of the epidermis, near the introduction of drug tubes:

Apply a cream or ointment (typical for both medicines) on the skin should be 1-4 times in a knock. Manipulations should be carried out until the epidermis is fully restored. When applied to the epidermis in large quantities and for a very long time, no cases of overdose were recorded.
But if the analogue or the original was accidentally taken orally, then it is possible:

Important. It is not recommended to use Bepanten and D-Panthenol on weeping wounds, since both agents, due to their moisturizing effect, can only worsen the patient's condition.
Dexpanthenol
An analogue of Dexpanthenol (produced by companies from Belarus, Germany and Russia in the form of an ointment and gel) differs from Bepanten only in auxiliary components.
An identical active substance (dexpanthenol) is contained in the substitute in a similar concentration, that is, in an amount of 50 mg per 1 g of medication. As a result, the drug has a therapeutic effect on the body similar to the original and is also approved for use to eliminate pathologies of the epidermis in children from birth.
The use of Dexpanthenol is recommended by dermatologists to eliminate the following skin pathologies:
- restoration of the epidermis after a minor burn or shallow wound;
- elimination of purulent formations and boils on the epidermis;
- restoration of the skin with bedsores and diaper rash (in children and adults), and as a prevention of the development of this pathology;
- to accelerate the healing of stitches after surgery;
- to relieve symptoms and normalize the condition in dermatological pathologies (including those of an allergic nature;
- to accelerate the healing of cracks and eliminate inflammation on the nipples of the mammary glands;
- to protect the epidermis from harmful environmental factors (low temperatures, winds, increased air dryness);
- to eliminate irritation on the skin as a result of exposure to ultraviolet radiation or X-rays;
- restoration of the condition of the tissues of the mucous membrane of the pharynx of the uterus;
- postoperative violation of intestinal contractile activity, the drug facilitates the removal of feces when applied in a small amount to the rectal area;
- intestinal obstruction. The tool promotes the restoration of tissues in the intestines when they are treated with ointment / gel.
The listed indications are similar to the prescriptions for the use of Bepanten, except for the last three points, which are characteristic only for Dexpanthenol. At the same time, it is impossible to use Dexpanthenol in case of intolerance to the composition of the drug (this prohibition is also present in the original) and with poor blood clotting, when using the drug parenterally (that is, for the last three points indications).
Dexpanthenol ointment and gel must be applied to the affected parts of the epidermis up to 6 times a day. The duration of therapy is set individually, to improve the condition of the tissues of the skin. When treating with an analogue, like Bepanten, it is possible that a negative reaction will develop in the form of allergic rashes and itching. In this case, the drug must be canceled.
Subject to the rules for the use of the cream / ointment Dexpanthenol, no cases of overdose were recorded. But if the medication is accidentally swallowed, there may be a disruption in the activity of the digestive tract, which is manifested by abdominal pain, diarrhea or vomiting. Gastric lavage is necessary, as well as taking polysorb or activated carbon.

The drug is produced in the form of a 5% spray, 3% body milk and 5% cream, the main component of which is also dexpanthenol. The main and auxiliary elements provide the drug with a healing and anti-inflammatory effect.
It is recommended to use Panthenol in the following cases:
- to accelerate the process of restoration of the epidermis after microtraumas or minor burns;
- to eliminate skin irritation after ultraviolet radiation or radiation therapy;
- to restore the epidermis with bedsores, diaper rash, diaper dermatitis;
- for the healing of anal fissures;
- in the treatment of cervical erosion;
- to eliminate ulcers and pustules on the skin;
- during the rehabilitation period after skin transplant or skin grafts;
- to moisturize the skin and eliminate flaking and roughness of the epidermis;
- to care for the mammary glands, as well as to eliminate cracks in the nipples that occur during breastfeeding;
- to restore the state of the epidermis after completing a course of taking hormonal drugs.
Panthenol, like Bepanten, is allowed to be used from birth, as well as during lactation and carrying a child. But if you are allergic to the composition, the analogue, like the original, is prohibited to use.
It is allowed to apply spray, milk or Panthenol cream from 1 to 5 times a day. The medication should be used until the epidermis is completely restored. When using the product, the development of allergies in the form of itching, swelling or redness of the skin is possible. After discontinuation of the drug, the skin is restored on its own.
Subject to the rules for the use of Panthenol, cases of overdose were not recorded. The development of poisoning is possible only if the drug is swallowed. In this case, doctors recommend rinsing the stomach and using sorbents.

The main component and auxiliary components have a regenerating and anti-inflammatory effect, and also increase the strength of collagen fibers.
Indications for the use of Pantoderm ointment are:
- increased dryness of the epidermis;
- normalization of the condition of the skin with dermatitis, including those of an allergic nature;
- restoration of the epidermis with bedsores and diaper rash;
- to eliminate purulent formations on the skin;
- to accelerate the healing of microtraumas;
- to restore the skin after minor burns, including sunburn;
- to prevent the appearance of cracks and inflammation processes in the mammary glands or to eliminate them, if this pathology already exists;
- to accelerate the recovery of stitches after operations;
- to eliminate and prevent the development of bedsores and diaper rash;
- to restore the epidermis after opening the boils or after skin transplantation.
The listed indications are also typical for the original. At the same time, it is forbidden to use Pantoderm ointment if an allergic reaction to the constituent funds is detected (like the original).
When choosing this drug, it should be borne in mind that the number of applications of the ointment on the skin is not strictly limited. The number of manipulations per day depends on the severity of damage to the epidermis.
If necessary (especially in severe pathologies or when using a medication for treatment skin in infants), it is recommended to consult a specialist on the rules for using an analogue and dosage.
After applying the drug to the skin, in extremely rare cases, the development of an allergic reaction was noted. Then the use of the drug should be stopped immediately. The likelihood of developing an overdose of a substitute, when used externally, is extremely small. Radevit, like Bepanten, can be used from birth, but during lactation and during the period of bearing a child, the use of an analogue is possible only with the permission of a doctor. Before choosing this remedy, it should be borne in mind that the ointment cannot be used with intolerance to the composition, the presence of hypervitaminosis with vitamins A, E and D, as well as in acute inflammatory diseases.

Desitin
The American analogue Desitin is produced in the form of an ointment with an active substance concentration (zinc oxide) of 40%. Additionally, the composition of the product includes fish oil, petroleum jelly and other components, which, together with the main element, have an anti-inflammatory, antiseptic and drying effect.
They also create a film on the skin that protects the epidermis from the harmful effects of the environment.
