Mechanism of action

Zodak (tablets for allergies) belongs to the group of antiallergic medicines. It suppresses H1-histamine receptors, has almost no anticholinergic and antiserotonin effects.

It has a pronounced anti-allergic and anti-exudative effect, relieves itching, prevents the appearance of allergies and relieves its severity. Zodak acts on the initial stage of an allergic reaction, reduces the movement of cells that cause the inflammatory process.

The medication suppresses the formation of mediators that cause a late allergic reaction. It reduces the permeability of small blood vessels, prevents the appearance of tissue edema, and relieves spasms of smooth muscle fibers. The medication stops the skin reaction to cold (with cold urticaria) and to the ingress of histamine and specific allergens into the body.

If Zodak is taken in the dosages indicated in the instructions, then it does not have a sedative effect. After a course of therapy, tolerance does not arise. After oral administration, half of the patients develop the effect of the medication after 20 minutes, and after 1 hour in 95% of patients. The effect of the drug lasts a day.

After using the drug, it is well absorbed from the digestive tract, but does not migrate through the BBB. The highest drug content is reached after 0.5-1 hour. Food intake slightly slows down the rate of absorption of the drug, but does not affect its value.

Up to 93% of the dose taken binds to blood proteins. The drug does not accumulate in the body. Up to 70% of the consumed dose is excreted in the urine. The half-life of Zodak in patients over 12 years old is approximately 10 hours, and in children 2-12 years old, it is reduced to 5-6 hours.

With renal dysfunction, when the glomerular filtration rate varies from 11 to 31 ml per minute. and in people who are on hemodialysis with a renal blood flow rate of less than 7 ml per minute. the half-life is increased by 3 times, and the clearance is reduced by 70%.

In persons of the older age group and patients with chronic pathologies, the half-life increases by 50% and excretion decreases by 40%.Zodac (Zodac) tablets for allergies. Instructions for use for children, adults, analogues
