Duspatalin is a spasmolytic drug of the myotropic type. Drug Duspatalin is developed and manufactured by the Netherlands pharmaceutical company Abbot Healthcare Products, B.V.The drug is administered in two forms: Duspatalin tablets( 135 mg of active substance) and Duspatalin Retard capsules( 200 mg.).Capsular performance has a prolonged action, which is marked by an addition in the name. Sometimes the capsular preparation has the designation Duspatalin 200, which indicates the amount of active composition. The tablets are white in color and are sold in packs with different amounts - from 10 to 120 pieces. Capsules are covered with a hard shell of gelatin of a white shade and are sold in a package containing 10 to 90 pieces.

The basis of the drug is mebeverin hydrochloride. To increase efficiency and digestibility, additional ingredients are introduced. The tablets contain magnesium stearate, lactose monohydrate, methyl methacrylate copolymer, potato starch, ethyl acrylate, Povidone, talc. In capsules, magnesium stearate, methacrylic acid derivative, talc, hypromellose, methacrylic and ethacrylic acid copolymer, glycerol triacetate are used as auxiliary substances. The capsule shell is made of gelatin with the addition of titanium dioxide.

Mebeverine hydrochloride is rapidly and fully absorbed after administration. It is completely broken down into veratric acid and alcohol. The drug in the form of tablets is taken before meals, 30 minutes before meals. The tablet is not recommended to chew, it should be swallowed whole, washed down with water. The standard therapy regimen includes a three-hour daily intake of 1 tablet. The course of treatment is determined by the positive result, but after eliminating the symptoms it is still recommended to take the pills for 20-30 days with a gradual decrease in the daily dose( the last 5-6 days - 1 tablet in the morning).

In capsule form, the drug is taken before meals( 20 minutes before meals) 2 times a day( morning and evening).The course of treatment is similar to the tablet form. After reaching a positive effect, in order to avoid withdrawal syndrome, it is necessary to take 7 more days for 2 capsules, and then, 10-15 days, only in the morning for 1 capsule.

Do not overdose Duspatalin. In excessive doses, the drug acts on the central nervous system, causing increased excitability. If such signs appear, you should wash the stomach and introduce a sorbent( for example, activated charcoal).Incompatibility of Duspatalin with other drugs has not been identified.

5 Dosage for children

For the treatment of children, the drug is used from 12 years. With a clear manifestation of the symptoms of the disease, the medication is administered in a manner similar to that of an adult with a capsule form. In the case of functional intestinal disorders in adolescents( agitation, excess carbonated liquids, etc.), Duspatalin is prescribed 1 capsule per day, in the morning before breakfast.

Duspatalin is used in pregnancy, which is due to the selectivity of the action of the substance. It reduces the tension of the smooth digestive muscles and sphincter of Oddi, but does not affect the musculature of the uterus and the vascular system. In this case, No-shpa is used to relieve uteral spasms, but Duspatalin can be successfully used to treat gastrointestinal anomalies. 6 Side effect on the body

Important condition for taking the drug: Duspatalin is absolutely not compatible with alcohol. Alcohol and mebeverin act in opposite directions, which means that when using alcoholic beverages, the therapeutic effect of the drug will be significantly reduced or even reduced to zero.
