In medical practice, you can find an allergic reaction to:
- antihypertensive drugs;
- serum;
- vaccine;
- preparations of bromine;
- iodine preparations;
- mercury compounds;
- vitamins( especially the vitamin B group);
- analgesics;
- sulfonamides;
- antibiotics( especially penicillins).
The reaction can be expressed in a very wide range:
- redness;
- temperature increase;
- attacks of suffocation;
- mucosal lesions.
However, there are such medicines that allergies are just necessary.
Very many children, especially the first years of life, suffer from allergies. One kid swells from one smell of fish, and the other is covered with red spots, eating a mandarin. This annoying and unpleasant disease occurs fairly quickly, and the child begins to scratch immediately. From this phenomenon for children a special anti-allergenic drug called in the medical environment, like antihistamines, was created.
Antihistamines
Today every drugstore boasts a separate shelf for medicines with this name.
One of the first to be manufactured was Suprastin and Tavegil.
These allergy medications for children are most often used to remove the most acute allergic manifestations, such as, for example, wet foci on the skin or severe itching. In addition, tavegil and suprastin can increase the effect of antipyretic drugs.
However, antihistamines have not only significant advantages, but also obvious drawbacks:
- calming effect;
- phenomenon of addiction( the drug should be replaced approximately every week).
But, for the sake of fairness, it is fair to say that the soothing effect is more a virtue than a disadvantage, since the child, with skin itching, is distinguished by increased excitability.
Suprastin may be prescribed after the course of vaccinations, as a preventive antiallergenic agent.
There is still a cure for allergies for children - fenistil. It is available in the form of a gel for external use.
Fenistil relieves itching with:
- insect bites;
- urticaria;
- small burns;
- manifestations of an allergic reaction.
A notable representative of the group of popular antiallergenic drugs is ketotifen( zaditen), used when:
- itching dermatitis;
- by wet eczema;
- bronchial asthma.
However, one should be aware that the action of the drug can develop for a very long time( within a month), therefore, as an urgent aid for exacerbation of the disease, it clearly does not fit.
Antihistamines of the second generation zirtek and claritin( loratadine) are often used in the treatment of allergic reactions. They should be taken once a day, as the drug's drug effect persists for 24 hours. These medicines can be given to a child from the age of two, regardless of the time of meals.
Allergy medications for children up to a year should be selected especially carefully: after all, a small child is unable to explain either symptoms or manifestations of the disease. In such cases it is required to call an ambulance immediately.
Before her doctor's arrival, the baby can be given an antihistamine:
- suprastin;
- diazolin;
- diprazine.
Tell the dosage of the drug by phone in the ambulance.
In the pharmacy system, these drugs are sold as a sweet syrup, which is especially convenient for young children.

It is difficult to select medicines for allergies for children, because quite often the drug itself causes allergies.
