Ventricular aneurysm in approximately 10% of cases is a complication of acute myocardial infarction.
Aneurysm, arising after a heart attack, leads to disturbances in the circulatory system. To eliminate these disorders, one has to resort to a surgical procedure.
The need for surgery is dictated by:
- the uselessness of conservative treatment;
- progression of cardiovascular failure;
- risks of thromboembolic complications.
There are three types of heart aneurysms:
- mushroom;
- is bag-shaped;
- diffuse.
Its typical location is the apex and anterolateral wall of the left ventricle.
The lesion on the posterior diaphragm is much less common.
Postinfarction aneurysm of the left ventricle of the heart can be detected by the following symptoms:
- pains in the region of the heart;
- shortness of breath;
- heart palpitations;
- fast fatigue;
- noises on the apex of the heart.
An aneurysm of the tip of the left ventricle often allows the palpation of the so-called apical( double) push, reflecting the movement of the aneurysmal wall during both the auricular systole, and during ventricular systole. All this is very well reflected in the apexcardiogram( apical cardiogram), reflecting the tremors of the apex of the heart with each heart cycle.
Acute left ventricular aneurysm can cause severe heart failure or even shock.
Ventricular aneurysms most often can develop with infarcts common to its apex.
Acute aneurysms with systole bulge, the work of contractions of the unaffected myocardium is expended. The effectiveness of the action of the apex of the ventricle is sharply reduced. Then, for a short time( several days), the surface of the growing aneurysm loses its trabecularity and is smoothed, half of the patients begin to form a thrombus of the ventricle.

The prognosis of the course of the disease is usually so bad that the indications for the operation are almost absolute.

The prognosis of the disease largely depends on the initial severity of the patient's condition. Survival is about 75%.
