Color zoster: symptoms, diagnosis, therapy

Color zoster (multicolored, pityriasis, solar zoster) is a fungal disease that affects the skin with the characteristic appearances. The name refers to the fact that when a colored shingles patient appear on the skin spots of different shades, from pale yellow to brown.

Causes

The disease belongs to the fungal lesions of the skin. The causative agent belongs to the yeast genus Malassezia, there are several species of parasite.

Itself in contact with skin the yeast does not cause the development of color stripping, the disease develops only in the presence of adverse factors.

Under the influence of risk factors triggered the process of destruction of the skin, and there are clinical manifestations of color stripping, so this pathology referred to as conditional contagious diseases.

Risk Factors (provoking the development of color stripping):

  • the presence of a genetic predisposition;
  • excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis);

  • acne lesions (increased sebum separation);
  • hormonal contraceptive drugs;
  • reduction in the body's defenses (immune system);
  • severe somatic diseases (chronic pyelonephritis, tuberculosis, HIV infection, diabetes, oncology);

  • failure to comply with hygiene rules.

Symptoms colored lichen

Colored lichen is prolonged, clinical signs develop gradually.

There are three forms of the disease clinical manifestations:

  • typical;
  • inversion (different from the typical localization spots);
  • follicular (rare, is characterized by lesions of the hair follicles).

If you have any precipitating factors in the patient begin clinical manifestations:

  • there are stains on the skin with clear boundaries;
  • spots are small, with well-rounded edges, however, may merge;
  • stain tint - from light to dark brown;
  • spots are not exposed to UV light (not tanning);
  • defurfuration.

Features of the typical form of colored depriving

In the presence of excessive sweating may be present in patients with a small itchy skin.

Characterized by the appearance of rashes on the skin in the area

  • back,
  • breast
  • axillary regions,
  • abdomen, thighs.

Much less rash appears on the hands, face, head. There is no stain on the hands and feet.

For stripping forms characterized by the appearance of lesions

  • on the back surface of the elbow and knee bends,
  • on the face,
  • under the breasts,
  • in the inguinal folds,
  • on the sides of the fingers.

Diagnostics

Diagnostics colored depriving engaged dermatologist.

Carried out the following surveys and research:

  • visual inspection;

  • Balzer sample - carried skin coloration with iodine, to the affected areas of the skin more intense coloration;
  • taking scrapings from the skin and subsequent microscopic examination reveals the direct causative agent;
  • highlighting Wood's lamp skin allows you to see the characteristic yellowish glow with colored shingles.

Differential diagnosis is carried out

  • tinea,
  • vitiligo,
  • seborrheic deramatitom,
  • depriving other species (herpes, pink, red flat and etc.)
  • psoriasis.

To do this, hold characteristic for color stripping tests and microscopic examination of skin scrapings.

Important! Self-differentiation of the disease is very difficult, because the symptoms of various types of dermatoses at first glance very similar.

Treatment of colored lichen

Treatment is prescribed and performed under the supervision of a dermatologist.

In the treatment of colored depriving necessarily appointed antifungals, aimed at the destruction of the yeast. Antifungal agents may be in the form of creams, ointments, solutions or tablets.

Antifungal agents contain in their composition the active ingredients:

  • ketoconazole;
  • sertaconazole;
  • terbinafine (not effective for color stripping tablet form!);
  • clotrimazole.

Number of treatments and the dosage form defines a dermatologist.

The patient required prolonged use of antifungal agents. The minimum period of application of external preparations - 7-14 days, but in most cases takes longer to treat.

Tablet form only appointed after failure of topical therapy, or with pronounced manifestations of colored lichen.

It is also used to achieve a therapeutic effect preparations containing zinc - it promotes rapid healing and recovery of the skin.

The duration of therapy is determined by a dermatologist.

Of complications is only possible secondary bacterial infection, which is appointed by the antibiotics.

For the prevention of relapse and progression of the disease is necessary to observe the following guidelines:

  • personal hygiene;
  • wearing clothing made of natural fabrics;
  • wiping the skin with a weak solution of salicyl alcohol;
